Buying boxes and smoking

Does anyone have a favorite, general everyday smoker, and just buy a box or two at a time, and dont bother to stick in humidor, since the box will probably be smoked in a week or two, and maybee just throw in the box some type of humidity device.
I seem to be drawn to the same cigar most of the time, and have kept them in the purchased box, and added two cigar mechanic
units and a caliber 3 and they seem to stay just fine, and they are always at the ready.
I am an old dog, and have been buying a lot of variety of premiums lately, but I still find most of the time going to my go to cigar.
I dont want to seem too plebian but its a romeo y julieta, that I have been smoking for so, so many years.
If you think they would be better suited to the humidor, please chime in.

Much regards Jerry

Re: Buying boxes and smoking

If you are smoking the whole box in a week or two I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Buying boxes and smoking

Cigar boxes tend to hold humidity pretty decently for me also. Although I use a coolidor to store them, the boxes keep a fairly constant humidity outside the coolidor as well (accidentally forgot to put one back one time...)

I overstated . I said a week or two, but a box of 25 about three-four weeks, if you take into account the other ones in my humidors I smoke.
Its just easier to leave my everyday cigars in their own box, and they seem to stay just fine with the mechanics humidification, and the cigars get to keep company with their own, and thus there is no arguing between them. Perfect harmony LOL

Much regards Jerry

I think they should still be able to sit out for even 3 weeks. If you have a routine thats working, don't think about changing it

Re: Buying boxes and smoking

At only a cigar a day... maybe 2 on a real good day, I haven't even bought my first box yet... everything's been singles and samplers so far... but I'm sure If it works for you then just do it.... Cigars are shipped in those boxes for a reason, and it seems to be working for you! Power to the Puffer!

Re: Buying boxes and smoking

As others have said if you have a system that works, no reason to change it now. If they still taste good to you and burn and smoke well at the end of the box then you don't have a problem.

I would say keep in the box just like you are doing. I like to switch what I am smoking every cigar, so would not work out for me.

Ha Ha,,,I hear ya. I hate when my cigars argue so I had to get seperate humidors to keep things orderly. I shouldn't talk about being a "cigar smoking machine" as of late I smoke 3 a day so according to my 3rd grade math skills I am smoking a box a week. No wonder the wife is always bitchin me out lately.

Re: Buying boxes and smoking

It should be OK. Just don't keep them near a; fan, oven, toaster, air conditioner, coffee pot, sink, tub, steam machine, sunlight, open windows, dehumidifier, or any thing hot , cold or wet...

I would think that you should put them into some sort of protected place. Somewhere that is safe from temperature fluctuation, humidity changes and light.

that is just my

Re: Buying boxes and smoking

My go-tos are Padron Londres, I go through almost a box a month so i'll just throw the box on the dresser and not worry about humidifying. It helps that the RH here is around 70 in the summer.
