The wife loves Ikea
My wife for some reason unbeknownst to me, loves Ikea. She doesnt drive and I have to go their, and the only thing to do besides gouging on sweedish meatballs and watching all the crazies shopping, is to twiddle my thumbs.
Man, I would just like to sit down, someplace there and smoke a long one for two hours while the wife does her thing. I know there are a lot of other guys going crazy there also. Maybee we can get Ikea to open a cigar lounge.??? Much regards JErry |

Re: The wife loves Ikea
Yeah that is a great idea, Ikea is a very stressful store to shop. Everyone is going the same way and there are so many people in the store.

Re: The wife loves Ikea
Great idea,.when I lived in San Diego we had an IKEA store about 2 miles away so we'd go there at least once a week. I'd go there everyday if they had a cigar lounge.

File under: Things we do to keep peace in the house. I consider things like this a trade off. I occasionally go shopping with a minimum of whining, I get left more or less alone for football. Quid pro quo.

Re: The wife loves Ikea
I totally sympathize with you bro, but I have to be honest here; I really enjoyed going to Ikea. Back when I lived in MA my gf (now wife) accompanied me several times as we were both furnishing our respective apts. I really liked the "modular" aspect of their furniture, and I spent a lot of time planning out a shelving system for my small studio apt. I purchased cabinet lighting for the inside of the bookcases, and had spotlights on top too which illuminated the ceiling nicely. It was fun to me, but I also appreciate that this could be hell for anyone else. In any event, it goes without saying that of course they need a smoking lounge!

Re: The wife loves Ikea
I like Ikea actually. The only thing that sucks is when you are almost finished building one of their things and you find out your missing a piece. That's really frustrating. I think they have a service now though where they will build it for you, but I've never tried it. Sometimes i just go there to eat, they have this shrimp salad thing that's pretty tasty, but last time I went their pasta was overcooked.

Re: The wife loves Ikea
I like Ikea too. But it would be very nice after spending 2 hours or so shopping in the store to stop by the cigar lounge for a rest before going home. I time eating in the restaurant for the halfway part, why not an afternoon smoke inside?

Re: The wife loves Ikea
I like Ikea, too, but fat chance that they'll ever open a smoking lounge. They're freakishly green -- among other environmental initiatives, they eliminated plastic bags after charging for them for a while -- so I doubt they're going to allow any burning of tobacco anywhere on their property. Of course, I live in the Chicago area, so indoor smoking is banned almost everywhere, Ikea or otherwise ...

Re: The wife loves Ikea
You know Ikea is such a progressive company that they might just build a Cigar Lounge if someone suggests it. They have kid's play areas to entertain kids so that Mom's can shop, they have a cheap resturant so that Dad's can stuff themselves while Mom's shop. The Cigar Lounge may not be that far fetched. Someone should write and suggest it. I would shop, then relax with a cigar and admired my purchases!

Re: The wife loves Ikea
I hate IKEA. I can't stand the crowds, the maze and the products they sell. IMO, their furniture is crap. They do have some pretty cool accessories though. A new IKEA is scheduled to be built in my neighborhood in the next 2 years. IKEA = More traffic.

Re: The wife loves Ikea
I pass the one by me every day going to work. Always tons of cars and what a mess. Been there twice and wasn't overly fond of the whole experience.
