Questions that will never be answered.

On CI's home page billboard, one of the panels says, "Ernesto Padilla Doesn't Always Enjoy Cigars... But When He Does, It's A Padilla."

So it got me thinking about a fun game that will unfortunately never be played, but how awesome would it be to ask all the big-name cigar guys, "What's the best cigar that you don't make?" I would just love to hear what they would say, but I just can't imagine them ever answering the question. They seem like such competitive people, it would seem to them like they were endorsing someone else's product at the expense of their own. I don't really think it would affect their own sales very much, but I could be wrong.

Re: Questions that will never be answered.

When I met Carlos Fuente Jr. he had a pocketfull of H. Upmann Regalias. He gifted me one and I gifted him a Monte #4.
Although he was promoting Opus X he was smoking Cubans.

That right there blows your mind - yet gives you so much to think on

Thanks for sharing that

A Cuban H. Upmann corona is the cigar that pushed me down the slope. That was the day that cigars went from an occasional indulgence to an obsession. Now that I've smoked a few hundred NC's, I'd like to try another one to see if it's really as good as I remember.

Very interesting. I suspect many (if not all) of the cigar makers smoke each other's stuff. In fact I suspect they smoke as much other product as their own. Reminds me of when I visited a local brewery for a tour, and they were drinking Innis & Gunn.

Re: Questions that will never be answered.

When I've seen interviews of some of the big name makers, they have mentioned smoking other peoples brands. They all seem to be very courteous about it, like it wasn't a big deal!

Just read the interview,,,damn Frank,,you missed your calling and should have gone into journalism. That was a good interview with insightful questions that weren't full of fluff and butt kissing. They were well thought out interesting questions that helped me to see this person in a whole other light. Enjoyed the link.

Re: Questions that will never be answered.

I once saw an Arturo Fuente ad with the younger guy from CAO walking out of a humidor with a Fuente sign over the door, OpusX in hand.
the caption was something along the lines of "what the competition smokes"
