Sosa Family Cigars

okay, I just got to share, because it upsets me. I went to Disney (Florida) for vacation or holiday, depending on where you are from. All the family wanted to go out to Down Town Disney which is a little market area. Has lots of cool stuff and stores. What did my eyes come across a cigar shop (Sosa Family Cigars). I waited for my sister in law cause she wanted to go in also. When we got in there was a sales lady help two women out at the end of the show case, cool I can wait my turn. My sister and I window sop and I already spotted quite a few I wanted to try, just waiting to be helped. Now some time has passed and I was wondering if the lady was still with the customers that she was with first, yes, she is now behind the bar explaining cigars, aka teaching. Ok, there has to be someone else that works here right, yes but she is bartending fixing drinks. Completely understand that, so continue to wait, as the anticipation of a Sosa Family Cigar was growing. Now, two other gentleman walk in, and start browsing as well. I started talking to my sister about the different types and colors and what did I here, the two gentlemen that just walked in being help by a third lady. I was mad and hot, she was sitting near the back, I noticed her when I first walked in, thought she was a customer enjoying some taste beverages. I walked out and really think people should wake up. I dunno if it because I am black, because I look young, I look broke, or just some tourist. Which I was just some tourist with a pocketful of money for cigars, all you to do was say can I help you pick out something. Okay, I feel better now, thinks for reading my boggle, PUFF.COM

Very unfortunate. If I were you I would have asked for some help after I saw the other two men walk into the store and get helped. Then you can see from their response if they are just ignoring you or if they genuinely didn't see you. Regardless this is an example of poor customer service, which tends to be the norm at a lot of retail shops nowdays.

Sorry to hear that, I stopped into the same store this summer for the first time this summer and there is definitely not a way that they could have just overlooked you.

Re: Sosa Family Cigars

I have been there a couple of times before and that is a very busy shop especially at night. I am not saying it is right to do so but in a very busy place like that people can be easily overlooked. The other problem is that in the location of where its at there probably isnt alot of repeat comers so much as tourists and therefore they may not sweat it so much either.

On the other hand for me, i dont like to be bothered. I like to browse and if I have questions I ask.

I was there about a month ago, and it wasn't very busy. Went in with my dad and brother and she helped us out, another few people came in while we were there, but it was good for us.

Re: Sosa Family Cigars

Whenever I feel I am being overly ignored (perhaps by a busy bartender or whatever) I just pull out my wallet and start gently waving $20 bills around. If that doesn't catch their attention, I just politely say to them, "Whenever you get a minute I would like to buy some stuff."

That puts the bee in their bonnet. They will get to you right quick.

Re: Sosa Family Cigars

Sorry to hear that happened to you Dice.
My guess is that if you were 20 years older and dressed in a 3 piece suit you would have been taken very good care of.

There are a lot of stories out there (and on this site) about BOTL not being taken seriously at B&M's because a. they are young or b. they are not dressed to the nines.

These bug me. I was usually helped when I was down in Florida at the shops because I was with my dad in each of them, otherwise I may have just been overlooked. The shop in town that I've been to, one lady was good and helped out, gave me some Montecristo matches haha, then there's some kid that I swear is stoned both other times I've been in the store, barely says a word or changes his facial expression.

Sorry to hear about that, I would have said something because I would have been pissed! I embarrass my wife a lot of times because of these, in fact did it to her last night when we went out to eat.

Re: Sosa Family Cigars

Wow. Sorry to hear about your treatment. I was just down in Florida a few days ago with the family at Disney. I love Disney...Then when I was told we were going to an Irish bar for dinner, I was estatic. To what to my surprise did I see..a Cigar bar..now I am really stoked...My father in law and myself went in and got wonderful cigar service treatment. The staff was very busy with lots of people at bar and walking around. This beautiful young lady with dark flowing hair cut and lit me a sosa treasure..Almost did not want to go to the Raglan Road for dinner..What a great cigar and experience..I went back next morning and got some more cigars...Very good stuff.

Diceson...The dark haired beauty was probably not working when you came in..Sorry again for your experience..I hate it when something like that happens...

Re: Sosa Family Cigars

this is terrible, and I can honestly say i know how you feel. I am young, and often not dressed in a suit, I am a) either completely overlooked or b) I have the store clerk breathing down my back because they think I am going to steal something.
Unfortunately this is the way it is. Im sorry that happened to you.

That happens a lot to me as well, I walk into the humidor area and BOOM! Attendants/shopkeeps right on my ass the entire time! Once I held out two $20 bills and waved them in the face of this one shopkeep while she was watching me inside the humidor and I said "Looky, Looky, I have money to buy, no five finger discount here." and she still didn't leave.

Thanks for all the feed back, I could have spoke up and plenty of other things (should not have to). I am glad to see it is not just me, not glad you know what I mean.
