Re: Beach smoking?

When I moved from San Diego last year is was a pretty hefty fine for smoking at the beach or in any state/city park. Something like $300 a pop i think. Was a damn shame having that great weather and the smoking nazi's prowling the beach.

Re: Beach smoking?

When we stay at our place in San Diego and I go to Coronado Beach,,,,you can't smoke a cigar there. There are a lot of beaches following suit on this,,,imagine not being able to smoke in an area where you are out in the open,,,,amazing. The parking lot is ok but not on the beach,,,makes perfect sense to me. ( eyeroll)

Re: Beach smoking?

I think the fact that I was at a "state" beach may have had something to do with the smoking ban. The beach may be in the same category as a state park facility. Not sure.

In any case, the beach was crowded that day. Of course, I just smiled when the rug rats on the next towel starting digging a huge hole about 3 inches in front of my wife.

Luckily, I did smoke my share of cigars that week on the deck of the house we rented, including a Flor de Oliva while grilling, a couple of Punch sticks and a Tatuaje Havana VI.

I find this hysterical, considering its like a one hundred dollar fine for smoking marijuana in public. They can have that crap pretty much legal, but the stuff that is legal is totally shunned upon. BOGUS!!

and yes, South Florida is North Cuba lol
Ill be going down to calle ocho this weekend to find some lovely sticks!!

Re: Beach smoking?

I think the no smoking ban on the beaches its geared more toward keeping cigarette butts and other litter off the beach, it isn't just anti-smoking propaganda in my humble opinion. Here in NC it's perfectly legal to spark a stick while sitting on the beach though.

Re: Beach smoking?

The reason smoking is banned on a large number of beaches is less because of health concerns and all that and more because of litter. Having thousands of cigarette butts on the beach is disgusting because you walk barefoot on it. That is the main reason why.

It's kind of understandable being most Americans will indeed just chuck their butt in the sand, I mean just look at our city streets. It does truly suck though cause it's the perfect place to kick back and enjoy a cigar. At least I experience this enjoyment when we travel to the caribbean.

*EDIT - Damn DerStro!! Beat me by two minutes while I was typing up my post! LOL.

Al kidding aside, I suppose if they can ban smoking in bars that serve food in Nevada, they can ban smoking anywhere. Although the local cigar lounge gets around it by being next to several restaurants and allowing patrons to get food delivered. Where there is a will there is a way. you can always go to a non-developed beach.

Re: Beach smoking?

I can tell you guys one thing... I'm gonna smoke some on the beach this week!!! Headed down to Gulf Shores tomorrow night! I usally will smoke em on the balcony of the condo for the most part, but I'll have 1 or 2 on the sand.

Alabama is 48th in everthing... The joke down here... the state motto is... "At least were not Mississippi & Arkansas." They'll be one of the last to go to a smoking ban. And you aint gonna take they're guns away, I can tell you that much.

BTW... Arkansas & Mississippi are beautiful states IMO.

Re: Beach smoking?

I've never seen a ban like this in (or around) Vancouver, although I'm sure it exists somewhere. I wrote a blog post a week or two ago about my favourite places (and times) to smoke, and concluded that my favourite place to have a cigar is as the beach. Check out some nice beach-smoking pics (and discussion) here. If you have a beach nearby, definitely give it a try. I happen to be lucky enough to live within a 1 minute walk of the ocean.

I lived in Brandon Mississippi for a little while, and although it was nice and clean, the people sucked. They were all rude, whatever happened to southern hospitality? and i like that you can smoke pretty much anywhere in Alabama, gotta love the south!

anyways, i will be heading to the beach today after work for a nice smoke!
