UPS screwups

I have made several minor purchases lately from online vendors. There are two shipments (from two different companies) that should have arrived already but have not, so I checked the status of the orders. Both were shipped UPS. In the tracking history of both is the legend "Routing error at UPS facility" when they reached my city. I'm hoping they will be here Monday.

Anyone else have this problem lately?

Re: UPS screwups

Never had that type of problem. I would call the nearest pickup facility and ask them what that means or thier customer service line would probly be a better bet.

Only problem I have with UPS is they won't come in my yard. Maybe its the pit that is inside the fence?

I have had this problem with jr cigars twice in a row now. They blame it on the warehouse.
The name and addy that shows on the website is not the same as the shipping computer puts on. Once they changed the zip code, and once the county.
Both times ups self corrected the error, and I received the shipment one day and two days late.
Wasnt ups fault, but jr cigar. I havent given the another order since them. Seem to have a slight attitude, so I always say, there are plenty of other vendors willing to take my money.
Much regards Jerry

Yep,,,always ensure that the store has your correct address. One letter or number off and it gets held back.

Re: UPS screwups

Haven't had a routing problem with them, but the last 2 packages showed up kinda mangled. The cigars inside made it just fine though.

I've managed to stay off the "evil" sites for an entire week now, though, so I shouldn't have to worry about this one for awhile!

Re: UPS screwups

I hate using UPS. They are slow - I always use USPS if possible. In the state of washington, the ups was keeping trach of all tobacco sales coming into the state and giveing them to the attorney general so that future taxes could be charged. That really sucks.
When I order usps - 5 day shipping can be 7 days becuase they don't ship on weekend. If I have things shipped usps - I get it in 3 days from the opposite coast, and they deliver on saturday.

Re: UPS screwups

Well, if misery loves company, I will jump in. A package from a BOTL sent to me is languishing somewhere here in Boston at some PO building or other. It has a Track & Confirm # too, but that isn't mattering a bit. It arrived in Boston on Aug 8, and I am still hounding them to find it and deliver it to me. But, I will add, this is the first problem I have ever had with USPS.

I am a shipping manager and have used UPS for a long time shipping 80 shipment a day. They are going to be late on some shipments. They say only about 1 out of 200, in my experience about 2 out of 100. Still better than Fedex.

I have never had any problems with UPS. Once I got a package delayed for 1 day due to weather but it didn't have cigars in it, so I didn't care

Re: UPS screwups

I get everything in 1-2 days using UPS. If you look at the UPS shipping map, it will tell you the maximum time allowed for whatever type of shipping you choose. UPS pays for shipping if your package is late, even on ground service. On average, .2% of packages are missorted, meaning they are sent to the wrong destination. If such an error occurs, UPS most times upgrades the service level in order to make service on that package. The package is tracked back to the source of the missort and discipline is given to the individual responsible, in the form of a warning letter, suspension, or termination. Last friday, a sorter was terminated on the spot. We take this stuff extremely seriously.

Like baba, It comes so much faster with usps than ups. Would like to use usps more but alot of the sites dont give a choice. Hope I didn't jinx myself, waiting on 2 packages today from ups.

I am a part-time employee for UPS and work in small sort. Since most packages cigars are shipped in are smaller boxes, I could be handling a lot of them. Packages that are missorted are not under any circumstance taken lightly. Disciplinary action is taken, although I have never seen a termination due to union policies. I myself do get missorts since no one in this world is perfect. However, I do have to say that I run a percent of missorts of approximately .00002, which is 1 for 50,000 -- about 1 every 1-1/2 months. Some are due to shipper error which comes back to me. There are people around me who do get missorts nearly everyday and they are written up, suspended, and even transfered to other parts of the building such as unloading.

You got that right. FedEx is the absolute worst, as long as you ar`nt using DHL, LOL.

Fedex personally screws my sheep up at least once out of every two times. From now on, if my seller say fedex, I`ll just ask for a refund.

USPS has always been the best for me, not perfect by any stretch, but better then anyone else.
I ship on a regular basis too.

Cheers!

Re: UPS screwups

I've never had any problems with FedEx, ups, or usps. But I prefer ups any day over any other. They ship faster than any other company from my experience and always show up on the day shown on the tracking information, or even better I've had several packages come a day or two early.
