Drink of choice with a cigar

For non-etoh, rootbeer and Dr Pepper are good, assuming a full-bodied smoke. I disagree with the tea assertions. Too many conflicting tannins. Coffee is also a nice drink to pair with cigars, although I cant drink it late in the day. Peets is the worlds best bean.

Personally, Ima scotch guy. If a cigar doesnt smoke with scotch, it's avoided. Im trying to go a little more cuban, of late. Im delving into some rums. They seem to work, but you gotta be careful with the pairings.

I am in the same boat as you though (being under 21, and yes, it sucks ) so I dont usually drink anything with a cigar. Had water a few times, but it doesn't really add anything to the cigar and starts to taste weird after a little while (the water that is).

I'm not a big soda person either, so that is part of the reason I don't really drink anything with cigars. Also I am still developing my palate for cigars, so I dont want to overpower it with a drink.

Anyways I'd recommend you experiment with a few diff drinks and see what appeals to you (try coffee or a soda of your choice first).

For non-alcoholic, I second the root beer suggestion. I wouldn't know how to explain why, but it just works well with good cigar.

I would go with what you normally enjoy drinking while hanging out if you are looking for something to possilby complement/affect the flavor you might try some coffee, chocolate, tea, or root beer sounds yummy

I am surprised to see Dr Pepper mentioned so many times. I thought I was the only wacky one willing to drink it with a strong cigar, but it pairs VERY nicely. For some strange reason.

Appleton Reserve rum. Smooth as sin and anything older is better.

I'll usually go for a nice cup of black coffee or some ice water.

I'm also under 21 and in the US, so I can't legally have alcohol either thanks to our "puritanical drinking laws" as my Canadian friend calls them.

Now that I'm thinking about it I like beers that are high on the hops and low on the malts and I think that taste goes great with a cigar. Here in Saint Louis you can get the Schlafly dry hopped APA and it is really good. I need to try one with a cigar and see if it pairs well.

Water if its a cigar I'm not familiar with; otherwise, I like iced espresso with some milk and sugar, or black coffee. Nothing that's going to over-power the taste of the cigar, just compliment the flavors. OOO I LIKE THIS SMILEY FACE! hahaha sorry, totally off topic.

I just discovered Breckenridge Brewery Vanilla Porter. It almost seems like this beer is made for cigars, nice smooth Porter with just a little nuiance of vanilla.
My other drink of choice with a cigar is a Makers Mark with a splash of Coke.
Is is quiting time yet???

Since I don't drink alcohol, my drinks of choice are either Iced coffee or Diet coke. They work great.

Strong ice tea, NOT sweetend. Can go with any cigar.
