Don Pepin Advice

Well I had my first Don Pepin stick tonight, and I am in love. I smoked a blue label torpedo and I couldn't believe how tasty it was! I read some reviews and they said how it was a strong stick, I didn't find that at all...just pure heaven.

So, now I am determined to fill my coolidor with as much of his sticks as possible. I know for sure I want a box of his blue label, but what else should I look into? I am thinking of ordering about 3 boxes.

I should mention I also smoked his black label a little later, and did not find it near as tasty. But maybe my taste buds were all worn out after the blue.

Re: Don Pepin Advice

Tatuaje browns are the only sticks he's blended that I really like (never smoked a T110 though). Get lots of them. The old blue label was a gem. The newly banded ones are just average.

If you think they are nice, you should try My Father.

all of those cigars are very good... cubao i like the no.3 (lancero) and no. 4 (robusto)
601 i like the green label (oscuro wrapper, esp. in the la punta size) and the blue (maduro) label...
the series jj is much better in a maduro imo... the havana vi is also a good smoke (i like the angeles, petite corona size) in this line best... i would also recommend the brown label tatuaje and la riqueza... the murcielago (made by the guys who make cubao and 601) is supposed to be fantastic and is scheduled to hit shelves on thursday... if you want to retry the black label try the la perla (petite corona) its my favorite in that line

hope this helped

Re: Don Pepin Advice

Anything DPG makes is usually pretty good, with the exception of some house brands. The Blue Label is his classic spicey blend. The Black is more of a straight tobacco flavor. The Tatuaje Cabinet (brown label) is his best work I think. In a video, he claims the Tatuaje Regios is most like a Cuban in his opinion, and that is my favorite. Some of the Havana VI vitolas are decent too, only milder, except for the Verocu blends, which are different.

Re: Don Pepin Advice

Lots of good suggestions here. I also enjoy DPG JJ maduro. Of the Tatuaje line, I actually prefer the Havana VI especially in the corona gorda size "Hermosos". Lots of woody cored spicy joy there. I would like to add some cigars that DPG blends for Ashton that are both amazing imo:
Pick up a couple singles from your b&m or find a sampler from Famous, Cigar.com, CI or Holts and give them a whirl before you commit to a box purchase.

Re: Don Pepin Advice

He has quite a few blends but to narrow it down to a few boxes would be tough. for me, I am a huge ashton dpg blend fan. I love the la aroma de cuba and san cristobal. AS far as a dpg cigar, would have to be the blue label. To me it has the best balance of all his blends

Here is what I've done when I find out DPG has anything to to with a cigar I go and try it.

Re: Don Pepin Advice

I also thought the Blue series wasn't that strong. I found that his other blends are stronger. Here are some of my favorites:
601 Habano Red Robusto
Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles
DPG Blue Generosos
Tatuaje Havana VI Nobles
Cubao No.4
