A poor newbs introduction to cigars.

So, someone gave me some gars and I decided to have my first smoke. First I tried a Al Capone Cognac dipped cigarillo and it really sucked. Horrible. Me being over-zealous, decided to grab this good looking Illusione 68 as my second smoke right after the horrid Al Capone. Holy shit. It kicked my ass. I should have stopped at the first hint of light-headedness. Anyways, sour stomach, dizziness, light headedness, vomit. Scarred.

Next time you try a "healthy" stick, try and have some type or drink by your side. The sugar offsets the nicotine effect some. I may be wrong at this but it works for me sometimes.
That or try to smoke after dinner or on a full stomach.

Also, don't smoke too fast. A "real" cigar is meant to last a while, man. A long while.

I'd definitely go for a sugary drink with your smoke. For me, I think that a little carbonation also helps.

Sweet tea with a slice of lemon--always works for me--a full stomach when smoking a full cigar always helps.

I second the sugary beverage and/or a full stomach - also a good idea to smoke in a well-ventilated area ..

Re: A poor newbs introduction to cigars.

Been there done that. Got some milder smokes to build up a little tolerance. Going to try smoking an RP Sun Grown this weekend, a medium stick, and see how it goes. Don' tgive up, even if you end up sticking to mild sticks, there are some good ones. CAO Gold is my fav so far. It was damn good!

Smoking on a full stomach is true. Another thing is to go down to your local b&m and having them help you pick a milder cigar. They usually are very helpful.

Re: A poor newbs introduction to cigars.

At the first sign of nicotinism, take a teaspoon of sugar and let it disolve on your tongue. Works like a charm.

That Illusione is indeed a fine smoke, but a little on the robust side. Grab a CAO Gold maduro.
