Howdy Mike,
I think that the Partagas black would be something you could handle, but it isn't that exciting. I think you should try a Partagas Rosado Lancero. They are right next to the black on the shelf! The Rosado wrapper is a "colorado" or red colored leaf that is known for it's interesting spice characteristics.

The Lancero shape gives us more of a flavor influence from the wrapper tobac. So in this instance choosing the lancero makes a lot of sense.

Just gotta be careful not to smoke it too fast and overheat it. That will usually ruin a gar....
We can keep tabs on this by occasionally holding the gar up close to the end that is lit. If we compare the temperature right after lighting to later on we gain information in context of what is ok and what is too hot.

Rock On Sir!

Re: Oliva Serie V Lancero

Lanceros have a double wrapper. That's why they are so full of flavor. Personally, I love the V Lancero, and always keep a few around. Only medium strength but full flavor. This is one of my favorite Lanceros. Thanks a lot. Now I need to smoke ine.

By the way. Three other Lanceros to try are the JdNA, Gran Habano Corojo #5 and the My Father.

Re: Oliva Serie V Lancero

The V in general is one of the few cigars that just doesn't fit my taste. I like the rest of Oliva's line but just something that about the V hasn't done it for me yet. I have not tried the lancero yet so I might have to give that a try here pretty soon as it's about time to give the V another shot.

I just grabbed my first Serie V (and Oliva for that matter) tonight, so I'm looking forward to trying it this weekend even more!

I am going to give the Lancero a shot...

The V Belicoso is my favorite of the Oliva line, haven't tried the Cain yet, and if there is more flavor in the V Lancero, boy am I in trouble...

Re: Oliva Serie V Lancero

So I just tried a V Double Robusto last night, and posted a review in the review section, I loved that one as well, that one I felt the nicotine after I finished it.

Oliva V line is becoming favourite cigar so far, I am thinking of trying their other lines, Serie O, and Serie G, as well as their Master Blend.

What is really nice is their prices are really good for such a quality made cigar IMO at local B&M, I have to look online to see how much cheaper I can get them.

I agree the G is a great line for the price. Ive tried a couple of the perfecto Vs and they are nice but still a bit strong for me.

When it comes to quality and price I don't think you can beat Oliva.

The Serie V Belicoso is a fav of mine to smoke. I've had a couple other sizes as well, and they all smoked great and tasted super consistent.
One damn fine and super solid stick and well priced too.

What is difference between Belicoso and Robusto, they are both 5 x 54 right?

only thing I can see different is the shape of the cap?

but do they taste any different and why?

Re: Oliva Serie V Lancero

I bought a box of these based on people's accounts of it on this forum. I thought it was decent, but not at all one of my favs. I won't be buying them again, I would like to try one of the other sizes.
