Give the VSG Tres Mystique a try, I love those little suckers. It's more like medium strength, but still packs a decent punch.

Being a non cigarette smoker, I get a weird feeling after each cigar also. I always take my can of caffeine free diet pepsi, and a granola bar with me.
I ALWAYS get a nicotine high, and I find it uncomfortable. What I do when I am out, is sit in the truck for about ten minutes with the a/c on high, which goes through my cabin filter, and I feel much better.
That is why I only smoked at the end of the day in the service, and my men knew I was done with them.
I never smoked a cigar, in a combat situation because of this. It played with my senses.

Much regards Jerry

That is probably a good idea, but I have noticed when I smoke a lighter to medium strength cigar the nicotine make me more vigilant, as if all my senses were suddenly more sensitive. case in point, I had just gotten back from a day at my local B&M smoked maybe 3 medium strength cigars that day, and when I got back I ran into a friend and he asked me if I had been drinking, I think my face was a little red, anyway I said "ha, I would need a beer just to get me to sober".

Yes, this VSG was Very Spectacularly Good until I tried to stand up
I've got a couple of extremely special sticks in my humi that, according to what I've read, are also very strong; I think I won't try to be a hero and nub 'em when it's Their Time. I definitely did not smoke this guy on an empty stomach and my smoke was accompanied by a wee dram of 16 YO Highland Park and a 17 YO Glengoyne. My wife has been bugging me to drink more water anyway, so I suppose I should just embrace the suck and do it.

I thought I had dizziness once, but it turned out to be vertigo.

Re: Dizziness and nausea last night

I sometimes get that feeling after smoking too. Usually I can feel it coming on and know when to stop, but being the egomaniac that I am I continue smoking so as not too look like a wussy

I certainly enjoy a decent dose of nicotine, but too much will do bad things to you. Like alcohol. It's good in moderate amounts, but too much will really **** you up. The good news is that you will build up a resistance to nic over time (a long time, tho), so just keep smoking whatever you can handle

Also, as others have mentioned, being hydrated does help alot. It helps prevent cigar breath too, and is healthy in general. So drink up!

I'm pretty slow to begin with so I don't know how much slower I can get without it going out. Just out of curiosity, how long should a 6" x 46 cigar take to smoke down to about an inch or so? What about a 6" x 50?

My usual milieu for cigars is on the deck, surfing with my laptop and a glass of single-malt. I'll leave the cigar on the lip of the ashtray for about a minute or more between puffs, typically, and have a small sip of my whisky every few puffs. I usually draw in/blow out once, shallowly, then take a deep draw, hold it for 2 or 3 seconds and slowly exhale, occasionally passing a bit through my nasal passages and sinuses.

Slightly off-topic sidebar question, too -- in these forums, is it possible to reverse the thread order so that the first post in a thread is always on the top of page 1 and later replies are on subsequent pages? Right now, the latest reply is always atop Page 1.

A robusto (5x50) takes me a good hour or more to smoke, so a 6x50 should probably take 90 minutes or so. I dont really smoke anything larger than a robusto, as even an hour is usually longer than I have time for, so I can't give you a really concrete time. It also depends on the cigar, how tight it is wrapped, humidity, smoking speed, etc, etc.

Go to "user controls" at the top of the page --> click on "Edit Options" on the left side of the screen --> Scroll down to "Thread Display Options" and tweak the settings to your liking. Hope that's not too confusing to follow! You can always post questions in the "questions, bugs, suggestions" forum too, and the good people here will be only too happy to answer! Well, maybe not happy, but they will answer! haha

My burnt offering is usually either right after dinner or the last thing I do before cashing out for the night (if it's warm enough that late). Occasionally I'll go for a Churchill, especially if it's a warm summer Sunday night, but as it gets cooler after dark, it'll be too cold to spend 2+ hours outside. I really wish they made my favorite Excalibur 1066 Dark Knights is a Corona size, the DK1 and DK2 sizes are just too much for 50 degree evenings.

That was my only question re the format of the forums, etc. I got everything else figured out and I didn't want to start a new thread unnecessarily. Problem solved, with thanks!

Don't know if this is relevant, but being new to the sinus inhale, I can definitely tell I get a bigger dose of nicotine through the sinus mucus membranes than through my mouth (buccal). I can taste the cigar better this way, but can you overdo it with a stronger cigar?

For some odd reason , every Taboo I've smoked gives me a headache . Is that the nicotine doing that ?

The Ashton VSG is a full bodied cigar. If you do not regularly smoke thiese - it could make you feel a bit woozy.
