Favorite whiskey to drink with a cigar?

I have had only one type of whiskey so far with a cigar and that was a bit of Jack Daniel's Black Label and it complemented the Camacho 1962 I was smoking wonderfully. So much so, I've smacked myself for not enjoying whiskey sooner! Since then I've been drinking a bit of whiskey or something similar with most of my cigars.

That said, while the Jack's was good I could definitely tell there were better whiskey's out there.

I'm also proud to announce that I'll be purchasing some Dewars 12 year Special Reserve scotch and some Dewars Aberfeldy 12 year scotch to complement the cigar's I'll be ordering within the next couple of weeks since my humi has balanced itself out(we're at 68% stable for a week now). I plan to order a couple of the DPG Delectable Dozen samplers, a box of Camacho 1962 robustos, and the Padilla Commerative sampler off of CI or cbid.

I was planning to just order more cigars with the above listed but good drinks have run dry in my house! Which is terrible, I do enjoy a good beer or glass of whiskey as I've discovered recently.

And...I probably only have space for like... 60 or so cigars at the moment anyway LOL.

I like Crown myself. Good ole Canadian Whiskey..... I have some of the Personalized Labels they gave away on my bottles, makes great conversation pieces.

I have found out to try and stray from the "cheapo" liquors. I have yet to find one thats cheap and good in the same sentence except for: "That cheap whiskey was good for rat poison."

Well, maybee I am not a full man , but my drink of choice with a cigar if I am indeed inbibeing, is good old fashioned sourthern comfort over a lot of ice in a tall glass.
Alternative to that is a tanqueray and tonic.

Well I agree that cheap and whisky don't go good together, But where I live, we have a Canadian Whisky that is called R&R, Rich and Rare I believe. Tastes exactly like Crown Royal to me, and is a little under $11 bucks for a 500ML or a 750ML. I can't remember which. But it is definately a good price I'd say!

But to answer your question, I've been enjoying a Scotch and Pepsi when I smoke on occasion. Seems to go well the cigars I've had with it so far.

Islay. The smokiness that comes from the barley malting over peat fed fires..... Nothing is better...

I used to really enjoy...before I got into cigars... a glass of Glenlivet or Laphroig, depending upon my mood, neat, with a couple drops of water... naturally.

I've since been put on several meds. (Diabetes, High Chol., HBP, Migraine and Arthritis) and since being awarded all that junk on a daily basis, it's put me right off my ability to enjoy a good drink, makes me kind of sick. I can still get away with a Negra Modello, or a Guinness from time to time. But even the beer isn't what I remember it, so I mostly sip limeade with my smokes.

Still got a bottle each of The Glenlivet 12, and Laphroig 10 (love the peat!) they're both 3/4 full and holding. My buddy likes Glenlivit and he's got a wife who loves the Laphroig so I'm getting rid of it piecemeal, when they visit. I wonder if I just poured a couple swallows, if I could get away with a taste now and then without...

Anyway, cigars don't need alcoholic beverages as accompaniement, but it'd be nice to have some now and then.

I prefer Bourbon Woodford Reserve. plus its a bit cheaper than some of the really good whiskeys.

Im a bourbon drinker most of the time. My goto is a bottle of Woodford Reserve (msrp ~40). Lately Ive also dabbled in Jim Beam: Red Stag Manhattans if the stick is a little sweet. Makers Mark Manhattans are also fantastic with some of the deeper cigars in my humidor, try adding a couple drops of bitters for a little extra spice.
