Consistent Burn

I recently suffered some ruinous burn problems, even in high quality sticks, which is new to me. It really aggravated me because I had the worst problem with the most expensive cigar I've smoked.

I want to relax with a smoke, not stress over repeated tunnelling and canoeing. Can you guys tell me who has the best/worst reputation for construction and burn issues in the various price point categories?

Re: Consistent Burn

What's your RH set at in your humidor? You might want to dry box them for a couple days before you smoke them. This could be the issue, if youre having burn issues with most of your cigars.

I second that....Sounds like they are too damp.. If you are smoking them in the wind they will canoe ..

I'll third that. Humidity can be a b*tch! Dry those suckers out! ....a little.

+1

That's what I was going to say too.

Dryboxing is a good thing....

One might even want to get some 60% beads for the drybox to get an even more consistent result....

Re: Consistent Burn

I've just been reading about dry boxing. No one ever told me about that before. I'll give it a try. I finished seasoning my first humidor about two weeks ago and I have not smoked out of it yet. I've always bought a stick then smoked it within a few days and I never had burn issues until my last two. Thanks for the learnin guys.

RH issues aside, I have had excellent burns from 99% of the Oliva's I've had...the O, G and V's.
