Is it me or is cigar.com really expensive?

I always get emails from them and I appreciate the videos they do from time to time so I would really like to buy from them more often but it always seems that even their special sales are expensive. I've ordered cigars from their daily sale because they're reasonable but even those have a minimum of 2 orders for free shipping. I've gotten to the point that I don't even check their site anymore other than the daily deal. 99% of the time I can get it somewhere else cheaper. Thanks for reading my rant and please tell me if you agree.

Re: Is it me or is cigar.com really expensive?

Yup. They are more expensive. Though once in a while they have some good deals and offers.

They are owned by Cigars International, why prices are higher I'm not sure.

Thompson is also higher priced on boxes.

My top 3 sources are Cigars International, Famous-Smoke, Holts.

Famous has best priced 5 packs around (not 5 pack frenzy, just normal 5 pack page), usually on robusto size which is my favorite. Holts has 6 packs even cheaper than most sites 5 packs! Though selection is limited. They do got some nice sticks in there like CAO Brazilia Gol! and some Camacho and other good stuff. Cigars International has my vote for the best sampler packs. Great savings to be had.

Yup, they are higher and the daily deal thing is cool, but they have run the same deal twice in the last 10 days. I have been paying attention because I received a gift certificate and want to get money’s worth.

Also and to me the most important Cigar.com has very HIGH shipping prices!

Re: Is it me or is cigar.com really expensive?

Yeah i actually sat down while i was smokin a stogie one day with CI's catalog and cigar.com's catalog side by side to compare prices on smokes i usually buy. Cigar.com was always more expensive. Even for 2nds, they charge about $5 more per bundle. I dont really see why. Especially since they are the sister site of CI. People claim it's b/c of cigar.com's great CS. I have always had great customer service from CI.

Deffinatly more expensive, but if you're looking for something a little hard to find like GOF's they almost always have them instock so at times you have no choice but to order from them

You will notice they carry a lot of the same selection. Of course each has a few own house brands or what not, but they carry nearly everything the same. I also noticed that the catalogs look very similar and have the same mailing address on them. Their website system is also the same and when ones usually down or having troubles loading, the other site is too.

Two words,,,Comparison Shopping. If you know what your favorites are it pays to shop around and have a list of "go to" sources for your cigars. I always have 3 to 5 sources for my cigars and I mostly use C BID as a source. If I don't get it from them then I skip on down to my other places.

Re: Is it me or is cigar.com really expensive?

I can personally vouch for their customer service, my first order with them went a bit shaky because I was using one of those Visa Gift Cards and apparently you have to activate them for internet purchases.

I called up cigar.com Customer Service because I had no idea why it wasn't shipping and was still in the processing phase.

Andrew from their CS department politely and knowledgeably informed me that it was because the card was not authorized yet, and that he was sorry for any inconvenience and gave me free 2nd day shipping(I had initially chosen the cheapest option) for all of my troubles. Which surprised me to say the least, because technically it was my fault LOL. Not to mention, the support staff are always friendly and willing to talk about stogies and help you with selection.

I SWEAR this is the BEST customer support I've ever experienced in my life, the staff were polite and highly knowledgeable and treated me very well...and they spoke the King's English for christ sake, which is amazing since usually I get achmed on the other line.

Hell, on my second order they sent me some matches and a free catalog and a thank you note.

I also really dig their singles prices, I think they have pretty good singles prices but other then that I think that they are a bit expensive.

Re: Is it me or is cigar.com really expensive?

According to Cigar.com and CI they are not owned by the same company but use the same warehouse. But I still think they are somehow related in others ways.

That aside the way to get good deals at Cigar.com is to have one of their Cigar Consultants take care of you. I'm not even sure how it happened but I ordered from them and then got a email from one of these guys (think there are 4 Tim B., Jeff J., Josh, S, and Alex, s.) emailed me and asked if they could contact me with specials and pretty much be my sales man. I responded yes. He sends me at least one email a week with a good sell, and if I want it I just say so and he sends it to me. He keeps my info and I dn't have to go to the site or do anything other then tell him in the email I want it and how many. If I don't want it I don't have to do anything.

The deals are good and I have gotten a couple awesome deals on Padilla cigars!

Re: Is it me or is cigar.com really expensive?

Interesting...I was getting ready to place an order with them. Since I am in miami, i usually order from the guys in Tampa, or Orlando because I get them next day with ground shipping and cheaper and more variety than my closest local store.
They daily deals are very attractive. Like the previous post mentioned, the deal I wanted to take advantage of has been online for about 2 weeks.

Re: Is it me or is cigar.com really expensive?

My guess is that they paid a ton for the www.cigar.com domain, so thats how they have justify the cost! Plus I'm sure cigar.com gets so many hits, they figure even if some people leave to other sites, that lost business is recouped by the amount of hit volume they get.

I love texcigars.com, have very competitive pricing across all their products.

I've only purchased a few daily deals from them, because there were great deals. Havent purchased anything else from them. The customer service was pretty good as well. Fast delivery.
I buy a lot more stuff from ci, there kinda like the walmart of cigars."everyday low prices"
