Te-Amo nubs?

I know the distain most of us hold for Te-Amo's but recently was in one of my local B and M's and came across what can only be described as Te-Amo's version of the NUB.Three blends were available,Nicaraguan,Honduran, and something they call Cuban Blend.About a 64-66 ring gauge 4" approximately, belicoso.Couldnt resist;they were less than $4 a stick.I picked up a Nic and one of the Cubans.I will admit I have never smoked a Te-Amo or Torrent family cigar that I liked but I was told the new Te-Amos are now made with something other than Mexican tobacco, and for 4 bucks,...what the hell.Anybody smoked em or seen them?FrankB

Looks like you bought the Gran Corto size:

TeAmo World Series Selection Cigars by Altadis USA.

And yeah, the World Select line uses filler tobacco from the respective countries of the label.

Re: Te-Amo nubs?

I grabbed about six of those about a month or so ago from my regular smoke shop. First impression, did not like them. To the point I gave four away, and only kept two Cuba blend. I thought more time in the humi would probably improve the taste and smell, I was wrong. I will give them away.

I tried the Nic., only Te-Amo I've had. Pretty straight forward tobacco flavor, a little harsh for my taste. I think they still use a Mexican wrapper.

Re: Te-Amo nubs?

Wow, I loved the TeAmo World Series Selection. The local B&M put them in the discount bucket and I grabbed all of them @ 2$ a stick.(10 sticks and 3 boxes) Mind you, they had been on the shelf in the humi for over a year. I bought all the boxes and then ordered the cuban blend as they did not have that one. Maybe it is a aging thing.

I also bought all the La Aurora sun grown Maduro sticks they had in the discount bucket. They had been in there humi long enough that they had bloom and are GREAT!

I've smoked a Te-Amo Cuba Blend nub 4" 60+ ring guage..about a month ago, don't remember the details but it was a good cigar. Picked it up for about 5 bucks. I'd smoke it again.

Re: Te-Amo nubs?

This is an interesting concept for te amo. They could be trying to use the NUB "look" to draw more attention to this line of cigars they have. I have smoked a few of them and they werent that bad, just not the flavor profile I look for in a cigar.

Re: Te-Amo nubs?

I usually keep the Nics and the Anniversarios in stock. Not my favorites but they are a nice change of pace.
