Hypothetical storage question...Zip Loc?
Hi all,
So I was thinking today, looking at a thread on tupperdors. Would it be hypothetically possible to use a zip-loc bag, possibly double-bagging it, with a humidification device inside it to keep a box of cigars in smokeable shape? Is there anything that tupperware gives, besides protection, that a good plastic food storage bag will not? |

Re: Hypothetical storage question...Zip Loc?
Nope if it will hold humidity it can hold cigars.
Cooler, tupperware, etc are used as they give more supply space, allow you to store boxes whole, are nicer looking and add a hard shelled layer of protection - plus they are easier to stack. Use ziplocks if you want long as they hold humidity. But I would look for a permant long term solution

Re: Hypothetical storage question...Zip Loc?
There used to be a Glad or Ziploc brand storage sized bag on the market. My wife & I sleep in a sleigh type bed that has fairly low slung boards on the side of the frame, so my large slideunders that I had converted to humidors would not fit under the bed (I have 4 of them in my closet). I bought some "bagadors" for under the bed storage.
With a humidifier, they work just fine, but are a real pain in the neck to get in & out of.

Re: Hypothetical storage question...Zip Loc?
I use zip locks for temp storage between home and my office when taking cigars with me. If it's a longer trip, then I toss in a water pillow. But I don't use them for storage beyond a day or so at the most.
Can't beat filling up a humidor and then going to tupperdors! I promise that one day you will set something very heavy on that zip lock bag if you ain't paying attention. Murphy's Law, Cigar Section. |

Zip locs with a boveda pack do just fine for a while. The Fuentes put out a humi bag that is a heavy duty zip bag with a packet inside of it.

Re: Hypothetical storage question...Zip Loc?
Temp non long term storage is okay. You will find that after about 2 months you can taste the bag in the cigars.
