Cigar of the month clubs?

Are these cigar of the month schemes worth it?

I see where, depending on which outlet you go with they range from $19.99 to $29.99 a month for 4 or 5 smokes randomly picked each month, are they worth buying into?

I also see where you can cancel out of them at anytime w/o a penalty.

I tend to buy at least once a month a random sampler from one of the major site anyways just to give different sticks a test drive. Sometimes I hit on a good one.

I would just stick with buying a sampler a month vs the monthly cigar club. I think you'd get way more for your money, and know what you're getting.

Don't sign up for T******'s, they'll hassel with this or that and don't understand 'no'. Don't know about the other online places.

#1 you have no idea what you're getting

#2 most sites charge close to $30 + S/H for 5 cigars. Thats insane considering Joecigar and Monster constantly have nice 5 packs for $15-18 and samplers/ 10-packs for under $30.

If it were me i'd just pick up one or two daily deals each month, youd be getting ALOT more value for your money.

Don't do it. You can buy samplers on here and tell people what you want to try so you don't get stuck with some shitty cigars. If you're curious about a few different sticks you'd like to try, shoot me a pm. I can cover just about anything with better prices and no commitment

Trust your own tastes and buy what you like instead of having somebody else pick them for you. When I go to a restaurant I order what I like,,,not what the guy next to me likes. I'm funny like that.

Seems like a way for a company to get rid of cigars that don't sell all that well. I think you can get much better deals just shopping around and watching for deals, plus you get what you want.

I thought about this as well...if you didn't have a way to store cigars, this might be a good way to get into the hobby. But like most here, I'd rather pick what I want to try!

I've bought some of the CI mystery fivers, because I know they won't send me junk. Cigar of the month? I don't think so. You could wind up with month after month of stuff you don't like, paid for with money you could have used to buy stuff you know you like. If I'm going to try something new, I find a B&M that has it and buy a single.

I subscribe to Empire Cigars COTMC. It costs $29.95 for 4 cigars. They don't send junk either. Cigars over the last couple months have included OpusX, Viaje Limited Ed Perfecto, LFD Double Ligero Lancero, Tatuaje Red Label Lancero, Illusione Epernay, Oliva Connecticut, AVO, Illusione 88, Nestor Miranda, etc. Members of the club will have first crack at limited release cigars (Tat Black , Monster, Opus, anejo, etc)
