Talking Gran Habano

Heya Fellas,

Haven't heard to much about Gran Habano cigars... Came across a very attractive page in the October issue of the Cigars International catalog (page 32). 7 different cigars on the page and they all look great. Not sure which people would recommend from them.

First off, Gran Habano Corojo Vintage 2002. They look g-r-e-a-t! A nice dark oily Corojo wrapper. The catalog said it received a 90 rating. It says "one time deal" bundle of 20 for $39.99. I'm guessing that isn't there normal price? They are out of stock at the moment.

Next is, Gran Habano 3 Siglos. Nice darker natural wrapper. I read on their site they are being closed out because of a trademark dispute. So I imagine they will just be changing the name since this cigar was rated 91. They are over 70% off right now!

Next, Gran Habano Cabinet Selection. Very good looking like the Corojo Vintage 2002. The shade of the wrapper is a bit lighter, but still on the darker side for a Corojo wrapper. This is another 90 rated cigar from them. No sale on these bad boys, at the moment.

And finally, Gran Habano. I'm guessing this was their first cigars in the line. Comes in 3 choices, Connecticut #1, Habano #3, Corojo #5. I'm probably most anticipating the Corojo, as I enjoy flavorful full-bodied smokes. The Corojo has a dark wrapper and is listed at Full-bodied. The Habano #3 looks great as well, a dark redish Habano wrapper, says its a well balanced smooth medium to full bodied smoke. And last, but not least, the Connecticut. I'm not to crazy about Connecticuts, but this thing looks pretty tasty! Its a little bit darker than your normal connecticut, as most their cigars seem to be darker than the normal.

They also have G.A.R. cigars listed on the page, so I'm asuming they make them as well, which also look spectacular.

Really interested in hearing more on this brand and these smokes.

Hope you guys are all doing well!

Re: Gran Habano

The 3 Siglos is a great cigar--especially in the gran corona size. This line of cigars really made me appreciate the diffrences in vitolas. I have had consistent burn and draw issues with the torpedos, and the robusto is noticably milder in flavor than the gran corona. The gran corona is really woody, but with a complex spiciness-- almost like baking spices--cinnamon,nutmeg,etc...
If you found a good deal, pick some up.

Thanks Eric! Just another smoke that completely flew under my radar until recently. Always learning more hehe.

Look forward to trying some of their stuff. If they accept back orders on the Vintage 2002 I might just place an order. Or if anyone wants to do a split buy let me know. Could do 4 way for $10.00, 5 cigars each.

Re: Gran Habano

The Gran Habano Cor #5 has been a staple in my humidor for a couple of years now allready. If you want a smoke with lots of flavor, that is the one to go for!!

Re: Gran Habano

Just bought my first box of #5. Had one last night and wow, it was really damn good! It actually reminded me a lot of Cubans I've had in the past. A little tighter draw then I'm used to though.

Re: Gran Habano

The Corojo No. 5 is a great corojo cigar for an even better price. Wasn't a fan of the Maduro at all though, and haven't tried anything else of theirs, but the Tres Siglos is supposed to be a very good cigar.

Re: Gran Habano

I may be interested in the Vintage as well. few things I wonder about them. They are priced just above the Fuma #5. Wonder what is different about them. Just the age??

Re: Gran Habano

I enjoy the Corojo #5 and the Fuma #5, which is a high-quality mixed-filler version of the pricier stick. The 3 Siglos is good, too, but I like the Corojo better. And I just tried the GAR this week -- made me a little woozy, which for me is rare ... damn nice smoke though ...

I read the Vintage 2002 has a 7 year aged Corojo wrapper. Same filler and binder as the Corojo #5.

Where do you see them priced above the Corojo #5? They are $39.99 for a bundle of 20. The Corojo #5 are much more expensive.

OOO i see now.

The Fumas ah. Was thinking we were talking about the normal Gran Habano line. Cause they have a Corojo #5 in that.

I wonder what the difference is between the Gran Habano Corojo #5, The Gran Habano Corojo #5 Fumas, and the Gran Habano Vintage 2002?

I know the wrapper is different on the Vintage 2002 than the normal Gran Habano Corojo #5. No clue what the Fumas have different. Looks like maybe lesser construction quality and no bands or boxes.

Re: Gran Habano

The fumas are just a mixed filler of the #5. The vintage seems to have the same blend but the wrapper is just a longer aged wrapper.

Just gonna have to try them.

Just saw famous has #5 rothechild 5 pack for like $11.00. Nice!

Their other sizes seem to big for me, but a rothechild is nice!

After reading this thinking cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc... I started laughing and I had a single so I fired it up...

Needless to say, dead on the money Rubix^3, excellent interpretation of the flavors!!! I also picked up some baked bread too...

Sounds like a gingerbread factory, LOL!!!

While it certainly had complexity that could be appreciated, it just wasn't for me overall though...
