Help a noob out....

My beautiful wife and I are heading to Vegas in a few weeks for some much needed decompression from the daily grind.

I am a robusto and maduro nut...for whatever reason, I love this vitola as it fits the majority of opps I have to sit and enjoy a cigar and I just like maddies.

I would like to throw two requests out. I would like to get some advice on 4-5 lines to take with me for the times I plan to sit in the sports book and enjoy four of the greatest things in life...my wife...alcohol...sports on huge a$$ screens and cigars. I am looking for lines that would be considered an everyday line..not the high cha-chings as I am looking to also find something for a go-to. After reading the review of the Sancho Panza DM Quixote I think that may be a try.

I would also like some input from either those of you who have wifes that share your LOTL or from the women on the board as my wife has the potential to become more a SOTL than she is but hasn't dropped over to this side of the fence yet. She likes the CAO little cigars, but I am looking to take her to pick out some smaller cigars to try on the trip. I think she would be comfortable with anything in the petite corona or smaller size at this point.

I will go ahead and give my thanks to those that can provide some assistance. I look forward to the recommendations.

Re: Help a noob out....

I would suggest maybe the Cusano 18 and Helix. Both to me are nice little cigars that don't cost a whole heck of a lot. Both can be had for around $40 a box from longashes2u.com - cheapest place that I have found. The also sell singles there.

Have fun on the trip - sounds like a good time.

Re: Help a noob out....

My "go-to" budget smoke is from Saint Luis Rey. The Rothchilde in the maduro wrapper is excellent for the price (about $3.00 - 3.50 MSRP, but less than $2.00 a stick online). I've tried many "cha-ching" brands and keep some pricey sticks but I go back to this one very often. Just ordered another box. Try the Cusano Corojo 1997 - great smoke that a lot of people don't mention very often.

As far as the wife, if she like "flavored" the CAO flavor line is the best and the tins are a good short smoke. I've heard some say the Cuban Honeys are decent. Java by Drew Estate may be an option for the both of you, particulary her. We were in a casino a month ago and my brother-in-law was smoking a Java (corona) and men and women alike asked what it was and commented that it smelled great. One lady said she was going to go find her husband some of those right then, but she liked it too.

My

Good luck and have fun !

One of my favorites that I would consider and everyday cigar that fits the bill is the Punch Rothschild Maduro or Oscuro.

Re: Help a noob out....

I'll second the ERDM Oscuro Robusto and LGC #4 or #5 Maduro.

I would also suggest the Joya de Nicaragua 1970 Antano Consul.

Make up a sampler at longashes2u.com Great prices on singles.

Re: Help a noob out....

The Padron 2000 Maduro is an excellent cigar, first Maduro I ever smoked and I still love them.

If you haven't tried them already, the Joya de Nic Antano Consul as Dandee sugested is a very good cigar, albeit fairly strong.

Mayorga gordito torpedo.
Dark, Dark, Dark wrapper. Nice creaminess, a little spicy, a little toasty, nice full flavor without ripping your undergarments off. Great square pressed shape.
I got mine at JR, if you like sweet dark, nice flavored maddies, you will thank me if you try this.

Re: Help a noob out....

I'd recommend the CAO Brazilia GOL. I love it every time for the size and price. And talk about cheap. You can score these for $2.89 a pop at LongAshes2u.

I keep hearing nothing but good things about the Brazilia line. One of the cigars my wife may be trying out on the trip is the Carioca.

Re: Help a noob out....

Padron 3000 maduro or natural, the natural is my go to smoke. Definately BYOC because you will get taken to the cleaners with Vegas prices. However, you'll have to stop by Casa Fuente in the shops at Caesar's.
