Magical cigar moments
It could involve a Swisher and a Pabst with your father after completing the restoration of a vintage muscle car. Maybe a celebratory Opus X after summitting Mt. Rainier. (You should probably wait till you descend)
You know, one of those rare, perfect moments when everything comes together and is capped off with an ultra-satisfying smoke the likes of which are very few and far between, even if it isn't typically your favorite cigar of all time. What is your best cigar experience? One spring a friend in Mexico invited me down for a visit as he was soon leaving for a year-long job in Korea. I spent a week with him in Jalisco, relaxing and playing in the sun. We spent one incredible Saturday morning scuba diving off an isolated beach south of Vallarta. I saw an incredible variety of species. We spent the afternoon on the beach in a little village drinking Pacifico and talking to girls out of our league. We actually talked three very pretty girls from Minnesota into having dinner with us in Vallarta that evening. We dined in a palapa on the beach. I ordered shrimp and red snapper and a nice malbec. The girls drank wine and giggled uncontrollably at the singer, who obviously didn't speak a word of English, but made up words to Billy Joel and Elton John songs. After dinner we retired to the balcony of my friends condo which has an incredible view of the entire bay and city. He put on some kind of Cuban music and while the girls danced he poured us snifters of 18-year Glenfiddich and handed me what appeared to be an authentic Cohiba maduro robusto. We torched up and it really didn't matter if it was genuine or not. It was incredible and the night was still young. I've never had another magical cigar moment come close to that night. But I'll keep trying. I'd like to hear about yours.

Re: Magical cigar moments
After i made Eagle Scout I had a nice cigar. Pretty magical.
Also when I was in Italy I was on a balcony smoking a stogie. ![]() Or when I was in the desert in Yucca Valley (near palm springs) had a little heft outside smoking a lot of cigars while watching meteors |

Re: Magical cigar moments
Wow, your story is terrific! I wish I had one as good as that... I guess I've had a couple of pretty magical ones that come to mind right now.
Just last night, I was puffing on a PAM64 Exclusivo, and a wave of good feelings passed over me... I started thinking about my Aunty and Grandma, who recently passed, started thinking about all of my wonderful family and friends and how much they mean to me and teach me... All the good times I've had, like this surprise birthday party my GF threw for me a few years ago... Just all the things I should be thankful for, really. Being able to puff on a great cigar in my backyard. I dunno why, but that moment was just perfect, with the tiki torch burning (to keep the mosquitoes off me) and a gentle breeze sending the aroma of cocoa and espresso off the foot wafting into my nostrils... The second one would be when me, my GF, and my 4 best friends who are also couples vacationed to the Big Island. After a few drinks we got on a late flight out of Honolulu, around 10 pm. The plane ride was a freakin adventure, with big drops and climbs from turbulence. (I hate flying, BTW, even short 45 mins flights give me fits if I don't take a Dramamine. And I DIDN'T that night!) Just touching down on the ground made me want a cigar just to be thankful lol! So we got our luggage and met up with the folks we were staying with, who had come to pick us up. We planned to stay with my buddy's parents to keep costs down, so I wasn't expecting much in the way of accommodations, since I had never been there before. Imagine my surprise when we pulled into one of the nicest ranch-style homes I have ever had the pleasure of being in! They (my buddies parents) were the coolest people I have EVER met, they had Gentlemans Jack, wines, and a Glenlivet 18 y/o out and ready for us. Gourmet pupus (Pronounced poo-poos, means appetizers, or snacks) from all over the world spread out on the table. There was this great lamb sausage with the rib bone set in the middle like a corndog for a handle, these mochi balls (a Japanese sweet treat) from Japan with ice cream and strawberries in the centers... The list goes on and on! After we had all taken our fill and had a chance to set up our rooms, me and my best friend went back outside to the patio and lit up some Monte No. 2s that I had brought along. That moment was absolutely magical for me! The whole world fell into place around me and my best buddy and a couple of great cigars that night! My GF came outside and instead of complaining about the smell, like she usually does, she complimented the aroma and just hugged me for a little while as I puffed and we all talked story and snacked some more.. A perfect end to my night and a perfect beginning to what turned out to be a perfect vacation! Thanks for starting this topic! You made me think of a really good time in my life and it made my day a lot brighter! Cheers!

Re: Magical cigar moments
This has been a good summer for cigar smoking, even if the weather has been bad. Sitting in the back yard, enjoying a good book and a fine cigar have been just what I needed after a hard day at work. Its getting darker a lot sooner now, but the cigar moments will continue.
