How Many of You Take Chances on a Box?

I was curious how many people here actually roll the dice on a full box purchase prior to sampling the cigar first or buying a 5 pack...

with cubans, almost always because if i don't like them, someone is always on the hunt to buy CC'S. I have actually only purcased one box of non CC's, I bought the original release RP Decade boxes, i actually bought 2. Other than that, all singles and five packs of NC's

I did ten years or so ago and boy did I end up giving a lot of boxes away later on. Now I will still pull the cat out of the bag if many I trust and our likes are similar and the deal is to good to pass up.

I have bought 2 boxes so far (my only 2 box purchases)

First box I got was Brocatus cigars from CI. I ordered them since they had so many good reviews about them and since the price was low of them like a buck a cigar. I got the Brocatus cigars not too long ago and they are awesome. They definetly taste like a expensive cigar.

I just ordered from CI "Mistakes" I am trusting that these cigars will be good because of the reviews and how these are on a non-stop order from CI peeps. So hopefully once I get them this week they are good.

Always, but only with cc's. I have never purchased an nc box. Just 5/10 pack samplers.

I have done it on two occasions: Once with the La Aurora Superiores that CI was clearing out a while back (because of La Aurora's reputation) and once on Padilla Habanos (again due to reputation and a terrific price). I'm generally not a box buyer.

I trust my taste first and then buy boxes only if I know that this is something I want to smoke a lot of. There are so many brands and tastes in cigars out there that one needs or should want to please their own tastes before trusting it to ads or marketing.

It depends a lot on the price. Under about $70, I'm much more willing to take a chance on something on reputation, especially if it's a brand I am familiar with. Much more than that, I'm going to want to try them first. Then again, if it's something I've been wanting to try and it pops up somewhere on a super bargain, I'm pretty weak.

Not often, but I did today. It was only 42 bucks for a box of Cu-Avana Intenso, I figured what the hell?

Along with a cigar smoker I am a cigar collector. For me, the box is what sometimes make the purchase worthwhile! (I know some will frown at this but I really do enjoy aesthetics)

A lot of my box purchases are based on others reviews with taste profiles I enjoy while my 5 pks are usually higher rated cigars with wrappers/profiles different from what I normally smoke.

Cuban cigars, I always purchase by the box, although I have purchased only 2. Difficult to purchase less than a box I have found.

i buy boxes on sale or combo deals or sometimes what is recommended to me, if i don't like it i'll age it and try it again every year and see if it changed.

The only untested boxes I buy are Cuban. If I'm gonna buy a box of NC's... I'm damned well gonna make sure I like it first!

It depends, like I've bought a box of Padron Londres having never smoked that size but having smoked plenty of 2000. Also I boought a box of La Aurora No.4 (corona) after trying the robusto.

I haven't bought any boxes yet. I have bought a few five packs based on posts I've read here. I would hate to buy a box of something I wouldn't like because I can't say to someone "I hated these, why don't you smoke them?"

These days, I sample first. If it's a cc, I will blindly purchase.
