Re: A Rant/Convo starter about Nub,Cain, and Sam L.
Anybody letting their Cain cigars sit for a spell, let me tell you after smoking on. These cigars don't need to sit at all! First I found it to be med to full at best, not overpowering at all. 2nd this cigar is smooth, I have heard that in every review but it still surprised me how smooth it was. On the pallet there was pretty much no spice or pepper. I think they are ready to smoke now.
With age they could do one of 2 things. Th tobacco could come together more and maybe become more complex, or they could become bland. The latter would be a shame, but this cigar just doesn't hit me as one getting much better with age. I could be wrong.

Re: A Rant/Convo starter about Nub,Cain, and Sam L.
The Nub was one of the sticks that got me from an idle to an active smoker. They're still one of my favorite go-to sticks, and recently traveled a decent spell to a Nub event and met Sam. Nub ranks right under my love for Don Pepin Garcia smokes.
I could easily see why people could pass on them. I love the Connecticut and Habano, but the Cameroon and especially the Habano really don't do it for me. So much so that I can't believe they're by the same man. I wouldn't go so far as to classify the Nubs as "something special". The ones I like are just a good smoke. Maybe there's a bit more hype than warranted, but I'd be hard pressed to imagine a lot of things that have a marketing campaign that isn't a bit pompous and overblown. Especially when compared to just about any commercial that is shown on TV these days to try and appeal to a specific crowd (Axe, Dos Equis), and pales in the shadow of the Opus-X hype machine or a handful of other sticks. Then again, I usually try to ignore advertising. I'll buy what's recommended to me by trusted friends over what the marketing machine says any day! |

[COLOR="Red"]"Why not just market them as small fat cigars?? Why the whole ploy about sweet spot? , so when they have to make up some huge marketing scheme to sell the nub it just seems weird./COLOR] When you say these things rather you are trying to talk about about somebody or not doesn't mater, you are saying he is lying about the cigars and come up with a ploy to sell them. In my book you call somebody a lier, that is talking bad about them. Thats all I have to say I already said everything else above.

Re: A Rant/Convo starter about Nub,Cain, and Sam L.
Cain seems like all marketing to me..."it's ALL ligero, try this strong, bad-ass cigar!"
But of course it's brilliant marketing, and seems to working well. People seem to be mostly enjoying them, too, from reviews I've reading. So all credit where it's due to Sam. |

If you want to praise Sam and talk about your experience fine, I'd love to hear about it that's why this is a discussion. But who are you to try to imply that my intentions are vindictive and harmful?

I think Sam should come out with a Nub Cain then we can get a full bodied cigar that is right in the sweet spot!

Re: A Rant/Convo starter about Nub,Cain, and Sam L.
Hmmmmm.
Nubs are bad in my opinion. Like horribad. Like given the chance to smoke a nub or go toe to toe with Jason Vorghees and Michael Myers I'll need a couple of minutes to warm up. I think I might prefer to be raped with a chain saw than to smoke that crap. That view aside, last I checked those guys are in business to make money. I respect the marketing angle (don't buy it but respect it). I'm never going to begrudge someone from legally making a buck no matter how wretch inducing said product might be. I'm personally more excited about the Cain demonstrating buzz that can be created about a cigar than I am about the actual cigar, somehow the idea of an all ligero cigar sounds not tasty.

Re: A Rant/Convo starter about Nub,Cain, and Sam L.
That's what I was thinking when I first heard about these, like all you'd get was the ligero kick and no real flavors. That was the case when I tried the Habano.
However I tried the Maduro just this afternoon and I have to say it was a solid smoke. Good maduro and the flavors were well pronounced. Im not gonna rush and go buy a box but I would definitely smoke another

WOW
First, I would like to say that this makes me sick. We are all BOTL, including Sam. No matter what he uses to market his cigars. If you dont like his cigars then don't smoke them, period.
Second, to come on a forum and bash some who is passionate for cigars, just like we all are, is just plain childish. Sorry but the person who started this thread and who has participated in the bashing are acting like kids. Grow up... Act like a BOTL. Third, I don't care what marketing he has done. I love the Nub brand and have a few boxes in my humidor now. That is my personal prefrence, i did even know about the marketing, till months after i started smoking the nubs. I happen to be in a local shop one day and saw them and grab a couple and loved them. Finally, if i go into a store and pick i don't know, a Davidoff, and smoke it and hate, do i go on a bash Davidoff, no i just don't buy that cigar again. Come on guys this is so retarded i dont even know why i replied. Take care ![]() |
