Well now it is my turn to go off.... This is just all BULL, NOOO, Just kidding.
I can see both sides of the story. I am a Nub fan thru and thru. It probably is probably the fault of marketing that got me in the door. But once I got in the door I was welcomed not only by some cigars that I believe to be a great smoke, but a family of great people who also enjoy Nubs.
I am currently in Kuwait, almost done though should be home in less then 30 days. I can't wait to try the Cain cigars. I even plan on going to the Big Smoke in Vegas this November because I want to learn more about cigars, but I also want to go and support Sam because he has done a fantastic job of supporting me and other troops that are deployed overseas.
I think in the last issue of CA I saw an ad for Room 101 Cigars? I think I want to try those too and I think it is probably advertising there as well, kind of steers away from the "high life" theme that I know cigars from. When I see the advertisements for the 2 above mentioned companies, I see the marketing for the aficionado that knows about tobacco and flavors, and all the good stuff, but at the same time says hey, I am average Joe and I enjoy cigars, and it is perfectly fine for you to have them too. You don't have to wear a suit, sit on fancy furniture, and drink $500 bottles of Scotch. If you want you can sit in your underwear on your 7 year old couch covered in dog hair, drinking a Natural Ice while enjoying a fine cigar.
I am from Iowa, and I almost never run into other cigar smokers. I think they hide in the basement to enjoy cigars. IDK, but I am glad that I ran into the Nub line.
Oh and I am not trying to continue a rant or rave or bring up a dead thread, I just wanted to let everyone know what I was thinking when I see the Nub ads.
Enjoy Folks.
