My first internet haul

Ordered the silver, gold, and platinum grab bags, as well as an R&P vintage '90 Toro 5pk from Atlantic Cigars.

Delivered last Monday and arrived today. I think I made out pretty good. Came to a total of around $130USD IIRC. What say you?

Also, what's your protocol when getting a whole bunch of new cigars? Do you just toss them in your humi right away?

Gonna post the pics in my next post.

Re: My first internet haul

Very nice. $3.70 something a stick. Can't complain. Some tasty stuff there.

If you've got a large stable humi I think its probably okay to drop em in. If not I don't know. Let experts weigh in here.

Enjoy.

Re: My first internet haul

I toss all my new sticks in the Humi to let them settle down from the ride. They usually ship a tad wet, a week or 2 in the humi will do them worlds of good. Except that fonseca in the platinum. Age that one a few months. Mine had a bad ammonia taste when I smoked it because it wasn't done fermenting.

Re: My first internet haul

Thanks guys, and thanks for the advice as well.

My humi is pretty stable, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and toss them in.

Which would you recommend smoking first?

Re: My first internet haul

Nice pick ups. Glad to hear they made to Canada safe and sound. I toss them right into the humi. Some people freeze them first but I don't. No issue of overheating at my house so I don't see the point. Knock on wood!

Re: My first internet haul

I would say pick two sticks that are similar and smoke them. Afterwards write down which one you liked more and why. Do this with the various similar sticks, and then you will know which ones to order more of. Have fun!

Re: My first internet haul

Holy Moly! You've got your work cut out for ya! I've gotten into the habit of doing the freeze-cycle and then letting my sticks rest in the humi for about a week or more. The guys are right, all smokes I've had from online vendors (and most from B&M's) are much wetter than I prefer, to compensate for shipping/environmental changes.

A dryer stick (65%, maybe even less), has a more profound taste to me.

Re: My first internet haul

I'm definitely going to have to take notes. I have a pretty good memory, but that's a lot of smoke to remember.

Does anyone have a spreadsheet or similar on their comp that they use to make notes on the cigars they smoke that I could print out? I think that would be very useful. I'd make one, but I'm extremely computer illiterate, and wouldn't know which program to use, and how to use it for that matter.

Nice. I was thinking about getting one of their grab bag samplers, but I was always weary of what they might send me. This gives me a pretty good idea of what I can expect. Thank you for posting the pics.

You could get a scrapbook (a manly one) and glue the bands in there along with tasting notes and a small review...this is what i'm starting...
