I prefer full boxes, Discusion please!

I have long term aging goals and find boxed cigars store better and has an almost double humidor effect.

I also think boxes are cool and have some artistic boxes, I'm talking thousands of cigars so that probable has a huge reason for wanting all or most boxed.

I smoke anything I have but do smoke mostly out of a smaller desktop humidor.

Arguments and comments please. I am trying to figure out now why in the world was I so lazy all those years ago as to not catalog and or at least date and price my collection.

What say Ye!

sweet avy Isaac.

Im beginning to be the same way, smoke out of a (few) desktop humidors and store the rest for long term aging. I dont know if storing boxes or storing singles has any difference in the way they age? Like you said a "double humidor effect" Im not sure, but it sounds good lol so Ill use that as my excuse for buying more boxes now! Thanks LOL

I typically buy a box after I try a fiver or sample. Trying to buy at least 2 of each vitola of cigars that I like. Just recently got back into collecting cigars and have been stocking up on 2008 cuban cigars. One box to smoke over the years and one box to age.

I haven't been smoking long enough to know what I like well enough to buy boxes, but I plan on it. I am already scouting out big coolers. Some day I will stop smoking all kinds of singles to experiment and settle into some go to smokes. Then the box prices seem to be a much better deal day to day.

You're absolutely right Dan. I've bought a couple of boxes of cigars I thought I liked only to find I didn't really enjoy them as much as I thought. Now I am much more careful although I'll probably buy more when I have more room.

Re: I prefer full boxes, Discusion please!

I have enjoyed every box I've bought blindly so far.

I think as long as you don't buy something you havn't heard much about or it's not similar to smokes you usually have you will be fine!

Re: I prefer full boxes, Discusion please!

Thank God for you guys!!! I thought I was going off the deep end; I've got so many cigars. 2 coolerdors 5 tupperdors 2 wooden humi's and several 5 gallon Homer buckets I've turned into temporary humi's. I buy cigars way faster than I smoke them and I like to have a huge selection at my fingertips so I can have a lot of variety. I never get sick of any brands that way.
I always store the smokes in the boxes they came in. Just my personal preference.

I'm with you on that .. only bought one box in my entire cigar-smoking-career, was a blind buy, and I still have like 10 left .. so I went back to 5-packs or 2-packs at least .. also, my humidor isn't big enough for more than a box or two - unpacked - but we all know the cure for that!!

Re: I prefer full boxes, Discusion please!

Still haven't bought a full box yet. Too many things to try. I'd like to get a few that are worth aging tho'

I seem to keep going back to Benchmade, may have to pull the trigger on that first to get my feet wet

Re: I prefer full boxes, Discusion please!

I bought 1 full box the other week, my first box purchase. I usually buy fivers to sample lots of different stuff. When I find something I really like, I put it into my "Buy A Box" list. Next week I think I'll buy a box of El Baton double robustos!!
