5 Vegas Classic-Definitive general consensus?

I've got some 5 Vegas classics coming my way as part of a sampler, and I've noticed this to be a debatable cigar-some praise them, others find them boring to disgusting.

So what's the general agreement on them? Do they just need aging to bring out their full potential?

Re: 5 Vegas Classic-Definitive general consensus?

The 5 Vegas line has been a pleasant surprise to me. Let them sit for a few days... meaning at least two days and then however many more you can stand waiting before firing one up.

My opinions are: the Classic is a dang good smoke for the $$, the Gold was too mild, the Miami is also dang good, and I haven't decided about the A having smoked only one. I also have the Relic and Cask resting but haven't tried them yet.

I just smoked one of those in early September, it cannot have been very memorable, as I did not make any notes at all. But who knows, maybe you will find a diamond in the rough. Go for it and enjoy them brother!!

The whole 5 vegas line is great to me. The classic is a good smoke and I do agree with Koby, they need a little age

I think they're excellent for the price! I found them to be somewhat one-dimensional, especially the "A". That doesn't mean they weren't good though, I enjoyed them! I've only had 1 or 2 of each though. They are muuch better with age. You could probably find better sticks for the price, but not really that consistently (cbid, deals, etc.)

I actually prefer delicious one-dimensional sticks to complex ones when I'm doing something that keeps me from putting my full attention on the cigar, like a party. (or maybe I'm just a college student that can't afford complex sticks every time I smoke

I like both the classic and the series A, but I haven't had either for a loooooong time. For some reason I would always smoke a series A after a work happy hour or something so maybe being drunk had something to do with it?

I like the Classic as well, nice tasty cheap smoke. Almost as good as a Henry Clay.....

Re: 5 Vegas Classic-Definitive general consensus?

The regular Classic line doesn't do anything for me...it's pretty boring. Not bad, just not my cup of tea.

I do like the Gold line though...one of the more flavorful Connecticut shade cigars.

5 vegas are good cigars, but I would only buy them from Cbid.

I like mellow-mild smokes and I found the classic was a little to harsh for me

The classic line Coronas are a delicious smoke! The series A pack a nice flavorful punch. I almost compare them to Partagas Black.

Re: 5 Vegas Classic-Definitive general consensus?

I'm a total 5 Vegas whore. I think I've tried all the different blends except for the Limitada 09, and in multiple sizes, if they're available. They're good, dependable cigars for a great price, and there's enough of a flavor range that there's one so suit just about any mood I'm in, so I wind up smoking more of the various 5's than any other brand. I guess I would agree with the poster who said they are kind of one-dimensional and not very complex, but the Limitada 08 was a total "WOW" experience for me. Totally incredible.

Having said all that, I would say the classic is right straight down the middle on everything, strength, body, spice. To me, it's a "Goldilocks" cigar, just enough to go with anything, anytime, but if you tend to favor the really full-bodied cigars, it's probably not going to do much for you, except as an occasional fling.
