How old were you when you got into cigars?

Got into them when I was 24/25 thanks to my boss at the time, who smoked them right in the office and on slow nights the few of us guys would strike em up and enjoy. Mostly H. Upmann, AF, Partagas, and Macanudo. We would go in on splitting up box purchases all the time. Good times!

My Mothers business partner always smoked them, and i tried one a few years back when i was out golfing with him, and it continued to be randomly while golfing until the last 2 years its been very prominent. My 400 count is almost full! Not including the two 100 counts i have!

Which time?

I smoked a few swisher sweets during HS in the 70's. I think it was my senior year when I got hold of my first Monte 4, Davidoff, Ashton, The Griffins. That lasted a couple years, but wasn't regular, by any means. Then, there was a period during college, the 80's, but other passtimes took precedence and I opted for a pipe for a time. In the 90's, I was a competitive cyclist, so I moved away from smoked tobacco for the most part. During that period, my job brought me into contact with a LOT of CCs, which I felt obliged to smoke. That's all I smoked for about 5yrs. That connection dried up when I changed jobs and moved away. That began my NC period in earnest. I didn't start stockpiling until recently, last two years really and I only finally grew my collection from a small desktop, to around 300 sticks.

Now I'm getting back into CC's again and will likely reserve most of my meager cigar budget for them for a while.

I used to be a pack a day cigarette smoker who has quit for almost 3 years now. At 37 years old, I started smoking and tasted my first cigar about 3 months ago.

I started pipes just over a year and a half ago and can't believe what I was missing.

Three years ago at 37. I was a heavy cigarette smoker, and thought cigars were an affectation for middle aged fat guys.

Then I won a gift basket of cigars at a chili cook off. A couple nights later I fired up a CAO Brazilia, and "got it." Since then I've given up cigarettes, and am rapidly filling up an 18 cubic foot antique refrigerator that I've converted into a cigar cabinet.

Absolutely love everything associated with this pursuit.

I voted 19-30. I started at age 21. I started smoking them at wine club with my girlfriends parents and friends. I still have one every saturday at wine club, and one during the week. I just purchased a vinotemp humidor, and I'm starting to fill that up.

Does that mean ...

1) Started smoking them regularly?

2) Bought a humidor and stocked it full of sticks?
and / or
3) Started to actually seek and hang out with fellow cigar smokers, exchange opinions and banter on the subject matter?
and / or
4) Decided to do all of the above AND convert a room in your home into a man cave... Retreat away as needed and enjoy the solitude of you and your tastebuds.

Well most people who replied gave a comment regarding when they had their first and then when they 'got into'

My definition of "getting into" would be a combination of when I was immersed into cigar culture, becoming knowledgeable about the cigar industry and cigar subject matter, knowing what I like and dont like, and began seriously keeping a stock of cigars on-hand.
