How old were you when you got into cigars?

I think I was around 14. This kid who was a new friend of mine introduced me to my first cigar when I was hangin out with him. I think it was an Al Capone. I was indifferent at first, but I definitely enjoyed the first one. Not surprisingly, this kid became my best friend for a while. We weren't picky at thaty age, since we couldn't buy from the store, but we preferred to smoke Macanudo Portifinos. The Portifino was my favorite cigar for a long time, until recently I finally started trying other premium cigars. It is still one of my favorites though. I only smoked about once a week or less at that age and I would look forward to it so much. I think I enjoyed cigars 10 times more back then, than I do now. I'm not sure why.

I was 18 and on vacation in Cuba with a friend. We tried cigars one evening after a meal and some drinks with some guys. She was violently sick and I have been smoking them ever since.

I first started in my late 20's, it never really took a hold of me then. Started back up in my late 30's, and haven't looked back.

I've had a good cigar on and off for a long time, but the first name brand I remember having was a Punch. I was in Bahrain with a few buddies at a really cool club/pool/hot tub thingy. I'd like to go back there someday. I guess I was about 26. Since, then I'd buy one or two a year, but I never really paid attention to the brand. This year, after quitting cigarettes, I really got into them after having a RyJ Havana Reserve. I am 36 and that was back in April or so. The funny thing is, I've got so many other "favorites" besides that one now.

I got into them like 2.5 years ago, a couple weeks after starting to smoke black and milds I walked into a cigar shopped and picked up a Cohiba and never turned back to cheap smokes.

Wasn't allowed to work in my local club till I turned 18...

I had my first cigar when I was about in the 6th grade. We had a store near by that had Roitans, which we managed to get a fiver of and smoke.
My first hand rolled wasn't untill about 15 years ago - down hill from there.

I was young when I smoked my first cigar. Some dad in the neighborhood gave the kids cigars to celebrate the birth of his daughter. I was 19 when I stopped into the Pipe Smoker in Lafayette, Louisiana 1974 to get an education and try my hand at a quality smoke. It was a Hoyo De Monterey - something in a tiny ring gage with a Clint Eastwood look. I was quickly won to Rothchild size smokes and Nicaraguan tobacco.

Started my senior year in college, with an Ashton 898. Tried cigars all over the spectrum since then, just over 15 years.

Started around 19, used to by them by the box and sell singles to army buddies. The pay was lousy at the time so this was how i funded my smoking. So here i am now still young, charming and handsome with a taste for much more expensive 'gars.
