How old were you when you got into cigars?

So me and a buddy were reminiscing yesterday about how long we've been into cigars and smoking, and I thought it would make a good topic here.


Im talkin hand-rolled premiums, not phillys or black&milds.


WE had our first cigar when I was 15 and he was 14 and by the time I was 17 we both had a fully stocked 100ct. humi. Talk about a slope.

Great topic!! I started at 40 years old. I still get people asking me "how could you start smoking after so many years?"

I smoked my fisrt cigars with my father around age 17. We smoked some decent ones as a bonding experience. We smoked together in the summer evenings and then the hobby kind of just went away when I left for college. I would pick up a single every now and then when the mood struck me. Maybe one or two a year until this year when I have begun the practice on my own. I have yet to inform my father that I have created a nice collection of fine cigars. I am waiting for the right moment to spring a truly great cigar on him and rekindle that bonding experience.

I voted as "Under 18", but I didn't really "get INTO them" until I was 20... I started smoking them at BBQs when I was, like, 16-17, but I didn't really appreciate them until later in life. I just bought single Cohibas (D.R.) cuz they were expensive (expensive=good when you don't know anything!), and I smoked 'em cuz it was "gangster", and I wanted to be a bigger, badder gangster! Who would've thought it would end up becoming a hobby/obsession, lol!

I started smoking when I was 27 but took me a year before I really got into them. Now I am 29 and trying out as much as I can.

I first started on my 22nd birthday.
Me and a buddy of mine were at a casino and decided we'd each get one for shits and giggles. It was a Romeo y Julieta 1875 Silver Collection tubo. Little did I know what I was getting myself into...

the first time a had a "proper" cigar I think I was 19, and I was dating a woman who was much older and she liked cigar smoke, so she bought me a box of Macanudo Hyde Park Maduro's. Ever since then I would smoke every once in a while, then about a year ago I went over to my buddies house and he handed me a CAO Gold, well needless to say it was all down hill from there. Now at 22 i have 6 full to the brim humidors and some overflow LOL

About 20 years ago. That would mean I was in my mid-thirties. I was visiting my sister in Tampa and we went to check out Ybor City. Can't remember the exact date.

I voted "under 18" but I was actually 18 when I started smoking cigars. It started out as buying a single or two a couple times a month, then a single or two per week, and so forth. It took me a few years to get a humi actually, now I'm proud to say I'm a cbid addict.
