Very sorry to hear about this. I have been thru floods too many times to even talk about and know the work involved in getting things back to normal. Hope you have insurance to deal with all of it. We are getting hit with a ton of water here in the Atlanta area and when we moved here I made it a point to buy a place where water would never be an issue. Glad I took the time to ensure that as we live on top of a hill and our basement is actually above ground and there is no worries at all.

I feel for the instruments and tobacco! But they survived. Sorry for the hard luck, but I'm very glad it turned out alright for the most part. Flooring is costly. Was it an insurance deal?

That sucks, hopefully everything will get back to normal quickly for you. I've had the same happen and it's no fun either way.

Yes, the washing machines know when to pick just the right moment. Glad the damage was not too severe.

A guy I worked with a number of years ago had a pipe break in his house just after he left for vacation. They estimated 10,000 gallons of water entered the house. That was awful.

Good luck on the cleanup!

Glad to hear you're so unshaken by this, and that your 'gars are safe. Smithwicks is a damned good brew!

Re: House Floods, Cigars Unhurt!

Thanks!! We have insurance and other than the deductible, were covered. The water restoration guys showed up last night about 10:00 pm and proceeded to tear up my house. No flooring anymore in the laundry room, living room, master bedroom and parts of the kitchen and entry. A couple of cabinets had to come out too, but they originally though all of them might, so that's good. They thought a lot of drywall would have to go too, but only lost a little in the laundry room.

No we have about 12 big fans and two dehumidifiers running. Its a little loud in hear. I am concerned about the cigars with the dehumidifiers, but they seem to be holding steady. I made sure my beads were soaked well this morning.

I was taking it better last night. I'm a little emotional today. Could be I got up at 4 am yesterday to go chukar hunting (small birds that love really steep rocky terrain) then didn't go to sleep until after midnight after moving half our furniture around. Thanks for all the support!! It really does help.
