House Floods, Cigars Unhurt!

We returned home this evening after dropping the kids off with grandma and as we walked in through the garage, we noticed a little water on the steps. Well, we started a wash before we left and the washer began filling and never stopped. Half of our house had a half inch of water in it. Thankfully, the cigars were up high, guitars were on stands and all the electronics on my amps are at the top!!!! Woohoo! If only I could say the same thing for our laminate flooring, heating ducts, carpet and some of our photo albums. At least I can go out and smoke a cigar while the clean up crew does its thing.

Why can't the washer ever break when were here???

Hate to hear that!!

glad the cigars and guitars were ok...

I moved all my cigars and tobacco upstairs after one of the kids unplugged the sump pump and we got 10 inches of rain..it was a mess!

Man I'm sorry to hear that. Atleast all of your sticks are ok.
Damn washer machine, same thing happened to mt parents recently and they have a "pit" area in their house which is part of the living room, it was like a swimming pool.
Good thing everyone is ok, hope the clean up goes well. Good luck!

Had the same thing happen about 6 years ago. Came home, water running out the back door. Washer overflowed. The worst part was my wife was 9 months pregnant with our daughter a whole bundle of hormones. LOL

I can only imagine. My wife is emotional enough without being pregnant!

Gray cloud with a silver lining, Dan. I wish you the best at getting this sorted out. Way to stay positive.

Re: House Floods, Cigars Unhurt!

Sorry to hear about the flooding! Hope everything turns out okay.
One silver lining is that you're in a dry climate to maybe you won't have to worry about mold.
Carpet's probably going to be trashed unless you can get a professional in there quick and get the water up.
Hang in there!

Re: House Floods, Cigars Unhurt!

Thanks for the good will!! We know know the master bedroom carpet is trash, hopefully not the sub floor. Laminate flooring (about half the house), trashed. Already warping. Luckily we has thresholds that kept the water out of other rooms, but they still might have been damaged. We just finished moving out of our bedroom, into our media room. Good news everything fits and we get to sleep in our own bed, bad news its right next to the kids rooms.

Cigars are still OK. While lining up the water damage guys and insurance stuff, sat out on the back deck with a Casa Torano and a Smithwick's on a perfect night. Life goes on.

Thanks again!!
