I cannot comment on the Opus, as mine are still resting in my Humi. The GOF now, that is a different story. I smoked one of those to celebrate my 50th birthday two years ago, and what a great cigar. I have since aquired two more of those, and I am cherishing them for a very special occaission, what ever that may be.

Where is the most reliable place to order the Opus X and is there more than one type. Pretty new to the cigar experience and these sound like they need to be tried.

Re: Opus X... speechless

I think the Opus X is a cigar that needs to be well aged. I have had 3 total, the first one was not that great, the second one was a little better, and the last one was a little better yet. I think the 3rd sat for about a month before I smoked it. I think it may have real potential if well aged, but after a month I did not think it was worth the $12 my B&M charged me.

Re: Opus X... speechless

My first opus was an absolute dud. I expected the world, and got Hoboken instead. I hadn't smoked a lot of different cigars yet. I had a few I really liked and stuck to them. The opus had no age on it. I stayed away for a while. Then I ended up with one that was two years old. Completely different story. It was fantastic. I get them any time I can justify the expense now.

Re: Opus X... speechless

It's a great cigar with at least a year of age to them. The longer the better.

Re: Opus X... speechless

For me the Opus experience has always been great! I would agree that they get better with age. I am sitting on ten in the humi that have been resting for a year now. I always try to buy a few when they are released. I have had some very memorable opus with good friends. Make sure you have time to sit and really enjoy the experience. Of course selecting a good drink (Crown Cask 16 for me) to go with them is important as well.

Actually no Father H did not marry my wife and I (I dont think hes a member here) but I have smoked with him, story for another time...

If you do a search for JBO57, hes the great man who offeredto marry my wife and I.

But back to the convo at hand...I do enjoy the Petite Lancero Opus quite a bit.

This is what I bought. Was for less. Around $55.00. I was almost sick when I did buy them. But got a good bonus and my wife let me keep a little. Still letting them age. Have been in the fridg-a-dor for about 4 months. Have special plans for those smokes. I hope they are half as good as some of the guys are describing them.

Congrats on the job. It is nice to see a freelancer have a steady paycheck.

Re: Opus X... speechless

I've yet to toast one (they are sleeping right now). But the Anejo I had last week really skewed the curve. They have a lot to live up to.

I'm wondering this as well. But for a box price?
