I quite liked the Centurian I had. I would prefer if they did not have 59 different lines and maybe focused on quality control a bit more, though.

Any of the Ashtons except the VSG. Way to much $ and no flavor at all IMO

The GOF carlitos on the other hand are amazing. My biggest disappointment was the Casa Magna. So much hype so little delivery.

Re: Most disappointing stick?

I'm a fan of RyJ's when I'm looking for something a little bit more mild, so when I saw their maduro I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately, I found it to be very boring and bland.......

I guess as a plus, I didn't spend much on it.

I've had this happen with tubed sticks two or three times. Notably with Punches. I've since stayed as far from anything I can't 100% visually inspect, smell, and most importantly TOUCH!

My question is this, what do you do? Suck it up and take the loss, or are more B&M's good with exchanging for poorly made cigars?? (I ask because the few times this has happened to me, I simply took the loss, not bothering to go back.)

Oh, as a noob smoker, the only disappointing experiences I've had have been with cigars I didn't take the time to read up on before smoking (to determine their strength, region of origin, taste notes, draw, burn consistency, etc - you know, all the stuff that you can find here lol..).

Re: Most disappointing stick?

ok i have a few that sucked for me, but the worst is buying something expensive only to find out that it cant compare to a 5.00 stick
1) opus x (i think they limit supply on purpose to jack prices)
2) la gloria cubana (to peppery and harsh)
3) and the overated casa magna ( cigar of the year my ass)

Two recent budget smokes for me:

Five Vegas Gold (double nickel) yawn and Taboo Twist. I set the Taboo down after a few minutes.

On the other hand the value blend stick from Taboo I loved!

Re: Most disappointing stick?

My worst stick was the Pinar I had a couple of years ago, it was like sucking air. Thanfully I did not pay for it, so it wasn't too bad.

Re: Most disappointing stick?

I think being disappointed from time to time is just part of the nature of the beast when it comes to smoking hand rolled cigars. I have had a couple I just couldn't smoke either do to taste, draw, construction etc.. But have had way more that where keepers!

Are you serious? A $20 Kristoff! How much tax do you have to pay in Maryland? They start at under $6.50 at my local with none even reaching the $9 mark.

Ain't it funny how sometimes value smokes end up higher on your favorites list than premies? Idunno if it's because you feel less guilt knowing you spent less on them or what lol but I may need another humi for all the bundle sticks I'm bout to get lol

Re: Most disappointing stick?

Ive had a number of "bad sticks" As in cigars i usually enjoy but get stuck with a bad one here and there.
Only a few that i just was disgusted with no matter how many tries i gave them.

+1

However, one that I was totally disgusted by was the CAO Italia

+2

No matter the cost, if it sucks, toss it. I never nub it just because I paid alot for it. Life is too short to waste on bad cigars.

As for the GoF, I've had several of the Carlitos and loved them all. The 2006 Carlito Churchill was one of the best smokes I've had in years. My friend who owns the local B&M told me to stay away from the Don Carlos GoF and now I know why.
