I don't know how disappointed I'd be if I didn't like a $3 stick. It's the expensive ones I don't like that really disappoint me.

We have a new leader. I just had a 98 Punch Corona CC that was God awful. Draws like trying to suck a McDonald's milkshake through a straw. Bitter taste. Little smoke. Did not stay lit. Nubbed it out less than 2 inches in.

Re: Most disappointing stick?

Several come to mind. First off, the Hemingway Work of Art Maduro. The famed Fuente series becomes just another cigar when stripped of its trademark Cameroon wrapper. A cheaper choice which I had high hopes for was the Benchmade...a bundle-priced cigar in a box blended by Don Pepin for Ashton. It was awful on all counts. But the "winner" in this category has to be the over-hyped and over-priced Stradivarius by General Cigar. It tasted no better than an average Avo.

Re: Most disappointing stick?

My most disappointing so far are:
1. Opus X, they just don't seem to be that good to me anymore. Maybe my palate is just changing
2. Casa Magna, bought 5 of these just because I'd waited so long for them to get in. Wasn't a horrible cigar, but to be rated CA's #1 (probably because price was a factor) I expected more.
3. Illusione MJ12, such a pretty cigar to taste so bland to me.

Sometimes you just get a wiener,
Nope, all the Obsidians are like that. They taste really buttery at first, and then just go to a leafpile flavor. Add into that the dyed wrapper, and you've got a loser in my book. None of my smoking buddies have had good experiences, either.

Re: Most disappointing stick?

Call me crazy but I've had two DPG Black Labels in two different sizes(A robusto and a petite lancero) and I was not too jazzed about them at all. I think the San Cristobal is a better testament to DPG's blending prowess.
