Should I try the 5 Vegas Gold?

Hello fellow friends,

Well I have a tight budget for cheaper smokes and I see on CI for about 60 bucks I can get 20 5 Vegas Gold robustos.

Out of all of you have tried the 5 Vegas Gold Cigars should I make this purchase?

I see some good reviews on it but just wanted to ask what you guys thought first.

Thanks,

Kyle

Kyle,

I would have to vote yes. It is on the medium side of mild but lots and lots of flavor. I did a review on it a few weeks ago. Here it is if you wanna check it out.

I also enjoy these on occassion, a little mild compared to my normal fare, but tasty & well built nonetheless.

Re: Should I try the 5 Vegas Gold?

The Golds are good, just very mild like Jeff said. If you have a limited budget, you might try a sampler pack of the 5 Vegas. I really like the classics for a medium smoke.

These are one of my go to morning sticks. You can usually pick them up even cheaper on CBid if people are not bidding crazy. Of course the reg CI price is not a bad deal either...

Yes, definitely try them...they are a very good smoke. Probably my favorite mild Connecticut-wrapped cigar...more flavorful than many other Connecticut shade cigars, without being strong.

Everybody seems to love them.
I, on the other hand did not enjoy the gold at all.
Have you tried the A or any close faxcimile?
These seem to be liked also.

I enjoy them. You can usually get the robustos on CBid for somewhere in the high 30's, and in fact the boxes up right now have a quick buy of $40 so I would buy them that way rather than at CI's catalog price if you're looking for a box.

Re: Should I try the 5 Vegas Gold?

Mellow, simple flavor with great smoke. I highly recommend trying the the 5 Vegas Gold (and every other cigar you can get your hands on ) but buying a box sight unseen might not be a good idea as some people don't like their lack of complexity. There's a double nickel sampler of six Golds and six Classics that might be a better bet as you'll get to try two different 5 Vegas stogies for less money.

Re: Should I try the 5 Vegas Gold?

As an aside, I understand why people say these "lack complexity," but for a smoker of mild cigars, they are not short on flavor. I really try to be objective when smoking Connecticut shade, even though it's not my first choice, you've gotta take it for what it is.

That being said, in my experience 5 Vegas Gold stands a notch above a LOT of other shade-wrapped cigars as far as having a little extra in the taste department...I'd take it over Ashton, RP Connecticut, Montesino, NC Montecristo, CAO Gold, etc...

Re: Should I try the 5 Vegas Gold?

I have to agree with Shawn, if you haven't tried one yet, you might not want to buy a box. Seems you were willing to spend $60 and someone stated you can get them for $40. I would at least get a sampler pack with the Gold in it first. You might find something in the sampler that you enjoy more than the Gold. I personally do not like connecticut wrappers.

Thanks everyone for sharing.

I will check out other places besides CI like cbid(devils site)

I will also consider getting a 5 pack.

I agree, try a 5 pak first to see if you even like them. If you don't like the first one send the other 4 to me for proper disposal.
