Re: Cohiba question
NC Cohibas are a complete joke. The blend has a nonexistent flavor and can be summed up as a boring NC with an overpriced name tag. To even mention the two cigars in the same sentence is a disservice to one of the greatest marcas in the cigar world. When I worked in a cigar shop we would laugh when people came in to grab this regular NC blended cigar and pay out the ass. If NC's are your cup of tea, I would put the NC Cohibas as one of the last cigars on the list to try. Hell, for the same price you can get the real deal.

Re: Cohiba question
I got some of the Red Dot lonsdales in a sampler. I don't hate them, but they're not worth the premium price. It's a $4 cigar in a $6 band, IMO. If I want some great Dominicans, I can buy Montecristos for about the same price (or even a little less!), and they're worth every penny. Someone obviously likes them, but I'll pass, thanks.
In fact, the 'regular' Montecristo #3 may be the best cigar I've ever smoked.

Re: Cohiba question
To me it just means the guy doesn't know a lot about cigars, thats all, nothing more nothing less. Don't think he is trying to act like a big shot but just trying to fit in with his fellow co-worker.

Re: Cohiba question
Well if you've found a way to pay what they're worth ($5 at most to me) then the more power to you; smoke what you like, like what you smoke. They're good cigars for a low price point. For me, at MSRP there are many, much better, cameroon smokes out there for far less money, and I'll just buy real Cohibas for the price they demand.

Why be an ass. I gave you my opinion in a more detailed manner. They are dried up leaves, no need to take your toys and go home.

Re: Cohiba question
Well Cubans are a non-option unless I drive up to Canada.........come to think of it, not that big of a deal for me......can I get real Cubans close to the border on the Canadian side, of coarse?

Re: Cohiba question
Probably, but it wouldn't be worth the drive and the Canadian prices. The internet is a wonderful thing my friend.

Re: Cohiba question
I've never had a cuban anything so I have nothing to base a comparison on. However, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who thinks Cohibas(non cubans) are a waste of money. i enjoy R&J, Macanudos, and Montecristos. i can't sit here and recall the size and shape of every one i have ever smoked but know that if i want to spend the money on a smoke that i will enjoy i go for these three. i also buy AF by the box every so often because that is what i like to smoke on a regular basis. that is the extent of my cigar knowledge. i know what i like to smoke and can talk about them somewhat, but can't talk on many other brands. i have had some like RP that are great and some Acids are interesting flavours but thats it. oh and i prefer dark wrappers too! i agree that the fellow in the OP has probably only heard of Cohiba and was just wanting to fit in. look at your cigar shop and i bet there are all sorts of Cohiba items for sell or ads.

Re: Cohiba question
First of the year you could get 2 Dominican Cohiba Robustos and 8 other decent smokes in 10pc samplers for $20. NOW they are $10 EACH! Luckily I got a few left from these. I have had a CC Cohiba and the Dom Cohiba..... They are totally different because of the origins of the tabacco; plain and simple. I think there is a high price bc of most people who have a 1/2 of a piece of knowledge of cigars when you ask them whats a "Cuban" brand, they probly say COHIBA. Thats why they are so costly I believe.... Id pay about 50cents less than the price of an Oliva V for a Dom Cohiba.
I even saw Cohiba mentioned on Family Guy cartoon a few nights ago! Mainstream = you gonna pay suka!

Re: Cohiba question
I actually really like my Dominicans, it would seem. It's kinda what I started with and learned to love. It's the "Allure" of the Cuban I guess. I was just Bombed by Shuckins though, so my taste may change as I branch out. My Wife (she dabbles) & I really like allot of the same. Love Partaga Series S, AF's, Romeo y Julieta, Rocky Patel & she likes a few Acids.
But I'm still a nOOb so..........I'll work my way into it. I still wanna try a Cuban
