quick fix for a "frayed" cigar head

I won some padilla habana robustos from cbid a couple weeks ago, and one of them was pretty badly damaged, but not worth the hassle to have them replace it. I tried to use the cigar glue to at least contain the damage but it didnt work very well. anyway, I decided to try that one first. used my palio for the cut and the wrapper was starting to unravel severely in two places, to I tried to squeeze it into the cutter to chop off the damaged part but it didn't fit so I made it a lot worse, by the time I was done trying to fix it, it looked like the end exploded, so used some masking tape wrapped a couple times around and it worked just like new, great flavor great draw just a little funny looking. have you guys ever made use of this fix?

my cigar glue is el torcedor(the tiny little vile at the B&M) put tons of that stuff on it works for holding down the wrapper if a small edge is loose but with extensive damage and especially iin a high traffic zone it didnt hold very well. is the pectin more heavy duty "glue" like ?

If it was a cigar that had real issues call CBID and they will make it right for you no matter. I do ALOT of business with them and have had some cigars arrive in terrible shape and emailed them and they sent out another cigar as a replacement no questions asked. You get what you pay for and when you win an auction you deserve the winnings in good shape.

Sigarz I had to laugh at your post. Not because of your gar coming undone, but because of your repair. It reminded me of Red Green and his duct tape exploits.

I'm liking the masking tape idea. Covering the tip of the cigar is very Winston Churchill-esque of you.

Re: quick fix for a "frayed" cigar head

I had a cigar doing that a while ago, and heard about melting parafin wax on it to repair. I had a lump of beeswax, so I tried it and it worked quite slick. Plus, the natural flavor of the wax was very pleasant in the mouth. Give it a try next time your cigar starts to desintigrate.
