Re: Do you keep your bands?

I've been keeping mine. I plan on gluing them on my first humi (10 ct capacity, all matte black, gift from my sister and her husband). I got a 2nd one (20 ct) from CI as part of a new customer promotional deal, and that one had a graphic of a bunch of cigar bands on top. I figure it'd be nice if I could decorate my first one with the bands of my first cigars, and it would be more personal and have a nice texture to it too.

Been keeping all of 'em for my wife. She is the artsy type and will eventually find a use for them, and if not - hey, got to leave the kids and grandkids something when we pass on!

But if I ever move, I would really hate to take part of the wall with me..... but I would!!

Last night, the side of the fridge came to mind. However, when the fridge dies and gets replaced (and you know they all eventually do), it would look sorta weird to see a side of a fridge covered with cigar bands on display in the house! Believe that the cedar or oak board is the best option.
When the fridge dies, turn it into a large humidor? You'd have to sterilize it, but the seals on fridges are great for humidors. As long as you keep it reasonably full of boxes of cigars, it should be pretty easy to keep a stable rh (depending on your local climate of course). I have 2 wine coolerdors that I have passive media in & they require a little distilled water about once or twice a year to keep a steady 60-65 rh.

I also keep my bands. I have literally become obsessive about it...if I accidentally throw one in the trash, I have been known to dig through the trash to find it as I have this vague sense of unease that it will bring me bad luck to throw it away. LOL! They are in jars, zip-locs & loose in drawers all over the house. From time to time I have to clear out a drawer...I load them in baggies & store them. I have tried & failed to create a collage a couple of times.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

Keeping them, I don't know why - I'm not very good at arts and crafts. Maybe just mount some favorites under glass in a frame for the den - a large frame to be sure.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

I always keep mine, good to know I'm not the only one who obsesses about it though.

I'm pretty sure I have enough to side my house with them.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

The fridge as a humidor is an idea that I have for one of those smaller types that go in the dorm rooms. My brother's died and I keep eyeballing that black humi-in-waiting, opening the door, sizing it up, etc.

I heard that if you throw a band away, it will return as a Cremosa Cubana and hide in your humidor!

My Cigar Band Project

Here is what I put together one afternoon....

I keep all my bands in a clear plastic container that used to hold cookies or something... Its got a screw on lid so if it gets knocked around they won't fly out.

Deciding on what to do next with the ones im saving now....

the same here, i glued the bands (one band for each different cigar) on a 3 x 5 index card with review. i also write special occasions and dates on the cards. then keep them in a 100 page photo album.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

I have thought about doing this. I have kept a lot of the bands, but haven't done anything with them as yet.
Writting reviews and tracing them with the bands sounds like a good way to do it.
Anyway, so much to do so little time.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

I keep the bands until someone asks for them to do a project.

Glue some of the bands for the cigars I really like in a cigar journal.

Not too many post smoking habits, I do dance naked around the cab before picking out my smokes though.
