I'm a little more anal. I keep one band of each brand I smoke in a file card book. Along with a few notes.

i am guilty also, I keep a little index card photo book that I put a band of each different cigar I smoke, and business cards of places I go to get the smokes from.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

I've started the next phase of my project, preparing the bands. I sort of roughly separated them into piles by brand. I already knew I was a brand whore for 5 Vegas, but seeing them all in a pile really drove it home. Fully half my bands are some type of 5 Vegas or other. I have a lot of freakin' bands. Not thousands, or anything, but it's quite a pile of them.

No, just admire them for the length of the smoke. Sometimes guys will come up to me and ask what make of cigar it is and I will give them the band so they can try it out next time.

I have, at various times over the past three decades,
saved bands, but ended up tossing em out.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

The picture came out all blurry, sorry. This is my 1st cigar band project. I just started pasting them anywhere after I had set the borders up, I wanted it to look kind of like I just threw them in a pile on the floor.. I just keep adding to it every now and then, but I think I'm gonna have to start another one already, cuz this one's pretty much out of space.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

Here's a little bit better one (although still quite blurry). I'm having a hard time getting the camera to focus on it and the lighting to not glare on the glass at the same time.. This is a 20" x 16" frame, BTW, and it took me the better part of 2 months to finish, even though it looks like a pile of sh**, lol. I'm thinking about maybe trying to make a design in my next one, like a tile mosaic, but with cigar bands. Hmmm. What has a ton of red and gold in it?
P.S. If you look carefully, I added a couple more bands to it just now! Have fun! Can you find the Cuban Davidoff band? That one was gifted to me by my cigar broker, when he found out about my little project... I wish I had smoked it!

For anyone thinking about trying something similar to this, I started out with the frame, then bought a custom matte board to fit it just right (black), then got out my bands and went nuts with only time, a razor blade (to cut if you need to, and it's also great to lift up and tuck under a band that needs to be repositioned or added to esp. around the borders), and an elmers glue stick (make sure whatever you use is acid-free, or it'll discolor the bands!). It was great fun, and it's gonna look pretty cool (if I do say so myself) hanging up in my smoking area!
Another tip: if you have any bands you want to show off/remember, wait until it's pretty much finished to paste them. That AVO maduro band in the upper middle? That's the first cigar I ever smoked that blew me away and started this 9-yr. obsession! The Monte band over the Habanos parchment? My first-ever CC, smuggled back from CAN by my sister. It makes for a great conversation piece!

Re: Do you keep your bands?

I keep mine in a fishbowl on top of my cabinet humidor. I've used the bands to top the bar and end tables in the Man Cave.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

I have a ton of bands, I also was thinking of of framing them. Question for you guys, did you guys use something like a glue stick to stick them onto the canvas?

Re: Do you keep your bands?

I started keeping mine recently. I thought it would be cool to paste them in a notebook and write my thoughts on them. Right now I know what I have tried and like but in a few years I might not so this would be a good way to track quantity and quality.

Re: Do you keep your bands?

If you are interested in sending your bands to me, I am interested in any and all the bands I can add to my collection. I am will to send you some sticks in exchange for your bands. PM me if you are interested.

A nice easy way to get some free sticks for saving your bands Usually they can be put in a standard envelope flat and mailed 50-100 at a time for the cost of a stamp.

Let me know.
