My first box
After 1 year of being a serious devotee of this hobby, I just purchased my first box (non-bundle, non-sampler) last night. Oliva Serie O Robusto's from one of the many rotating daily deals out there; probably the best bang for the buck brand I've had so far, ended up paying just under $3 a stick. For some reason, I'm much more excited over the box than my normal 10pk or sampler. Just thought I'd share.
I think my next post will be a list of bullets on every cigar I've smoked during my first year (oh yeah, you know I kept all the bands!) Now if some boxes San Cristobal's or La Aroma De Cuba EE's would just go on sale... Happy Friday Last edited by mrmoose411; 10-09-2009 at 10:52 AM.. Reason: taking thumbnail off |

Re: My first box
Congrats on the box purchase, I felt the same way after my first, even now after going through quite a few boxes I still get excited when I buy new ones, I guess its because it doesn't happen too often, maybe 2 or 3 times per year.

Re: My first box
Congrats on making taking the next step.
I probably will never forget my first box: Carlos Torano 1959 Exodus Silver. After 2 end table humidors and 2 desktops, and progressing to buying a box every couple weeks I still remember the first one fondly. But alas it's all down hill for ya. Next you'll see that buying by the box is much cheaper and then you'll be "saving" hundreds with all the boxes you buy, then you 'll be moving int oyour car (becasue we all need our priorities straight), blah blah blah blah................... Congrats again B

Re: My first box
For me, opening a new box is even more special than opening a full humidor.

Re: My first box
There's nothing quite like the ritual of opening a brand-new box of cigars. I expect to experience that later today, when my latest shipment arrives ...

Re: My first box
I feel your excitement on a new box. I smoked 40 years before ever buying a real box of ciigars. Even know my heart skips a beat, when I receive cigars, and it is presented in a beautiful bos.
I have had boxes that came with(without previous knowledge) a felt cutout, with a lighter in it. Yes there is always something about a box, and like you said a retail box, of something of your choosing. Much regards Jerry |

Re: My first box
Congrats, know how you feel. I order international and usually have to wait through a process before receiving them (often they go missing) so when i do get them its always a real treat.
Cheers & enjoy ![]() |

Re: My first box
Now you're in trouble
I'm pretty sure most people remember their first boxes. It's something like a right of passage from hobbyist to devotee.

Re: My first box
After seeing my total from cbid this week, all I can do is smack my head and think how I could have bought a box! Still too many things I wanna sample yet.
Congrats...not where you are yet, but getting there! |

Re: My first box
Congratulations, you are officially over the crest and sliding down the slope! Sorta like a Bat Outta Hell on Greased Rails. Amen about the San Cristobal and La Aroma EE sales. My first 10er was the Cuesta-Rey Pyramid #9 Maduro and the first 25er was the Fuente Cuban Corona Maduro. I thought I had arrived on each purchase!! (Little did I know) And, yes, I have ALL my bands.
