Shipping FYI

So I was browsing and found this humidor on sale at CI for $599.00 Was all excited then I found out the shipping was $250.00 Oh well. I sent a note to CI asking why so much and their reply was they charge exactly what they are charged.

So tonight I found the same humidor at cheap humidors for the same $599.00 and sure enough the shipping was $112,69 Now I may pick it up, still trying to decide if I want to build or buy. But anyway check the shipping on everything I don't like being fibbed too at all!

Nice looking humidor there!!
One warning though, I bought an end table humidor and found out those freight hauling companies will only deliver to the first floor.
So, if you live in an apartment or something don't plan on them carrying it up the stairs.

I was looking at a similar humidor the "tower of power" They tell me its freight delivery to street only. And then I need to examine, and sign if satisfied with the unit physically. I dont go for that.

Maybee Ikea will start making humidors. God, I am always bringing the wife there at least once a month. How I hate that place with a passion. Furniture you have to put together yourself, and not at any bargain price, impossible picture instructions, and lack of quality on craftsmanship and manufacter.
The swedes must be laughing their rear ends at out devotion to this place.

CI answered my comment and offered to match shipping and asked for a link so I sent it to them. At this point if they can match shipping are they doing me a favor or were they gouging on shipping?

What do you think would you go with cheap humidors or CI ?

About Ikea Ditto I hate that place, being a bachelor I don't much care about anything but tool's cigars, my dog and electronics. So snap together furniture is not high on my list. Go Figure.

That's a kickin' deal on a nice cabinet. I'll try not to totally go off on a bitsch-rant about shipping charges. Some companies will blatantly rip me off, because I'm in Alaska, and some others won't ship to me at all. Frankly, I'm not sure which is more annoying. If I want something, and I've already agreed to pay their insane shipping fees, why should they care where I am? If I bought something like this, I would have to have it sent to one of the freight consolidators in Seattle, pay three times as much, and hope it didn't get destroyed in the process. Bastards.

I bought a small table once at Ikea took me 3 returns to get one that was acceptable finish wise... and ditto the cattle car comment....

I am all for price matching but it seems somewhat insulting when one place tells you that is cost then all of a sudden they can only match a competitor to get your business in cases like that other things being equal I would go with the one who had the better deal to begin with. (that said CI has always given me good service)
Now if they want to earn your business they should not only match the price it but beat it in my opinion. One final note though could the difference in shipping be due to where they are shipping from? I know CI is located in PA not sure on Cheaphumidors.

They (CI) didn't have a calculator link to check where I live weird, it just says add $250 for shipping. I also like them on service so far!

But I am feeling the same as you about cheaphumidors they calculated the rate from the start. does sound fishy. I also understand the freight to the curb and inspect before the driver leaves aspect and that's not a problem for me.

It does seem like a decent price and man I really like all those drawers, right now I have plenty of box space and need drawers since you all have me hooked on trying all these different brands, My five packs and singles are really piling up.

I will spend almost that much building one like it and I really don't need the project right now, Besides if Juicestain is really nice I may build him one, but he's gonna have to be really nice.

It does make you wonder. First they tried to say that they only charged what they were charged, then when they found out that another vendor charged less than half what they did for shipping they offered to match. Sounds like profiteering to me. I wonder how many people didn't check elsewhere and just ponied up the $250?

It cost me less than that to have a heavy wall cabinet packaged and shipped from maritime Canada to Las Vegas, air freight. I would have balked at the $250 myself.
