My allergies have been killing me for the past 2 weeks. Definitely hate this time of year. I'm dying to smoke a cigar. Walking past my humi seeing them there knowing I can't have them. Such a tease. Just wondering if i'm the only one...

Will Claritin or any other otc allergy medicine help?

Try allegra 180mg...by Rx but works like a charm for me...also consider steroid nasal sprays like flonase or nasacort (I don't like them, but I hear they are effective)

I would pick one of these up. I had a similar problem last month until i picked some claritin stuff up.

I buy a bottle of 90/10mg loratidine (Claritin) at my local pharmacy for about $6. I've been taking it since last spring. I still get kinda stuffy sometimes, but I think it helps.

Allow some cigar smoke into your sinus cavity...whatever you can do...retro-inhale, exhale through the nose, etc. This will open up your sinus' while you're smoking & allow you to taste the cigar. It will sting a little at 1st, but you will come to relish this sensation...kinda like the warm burn you get from a healthy shot of booze. Just keep a box of tissues on hand.

I feel your pain. I have trouble with my allergies almost year round. One thing goes away and another takes its place.

The cigar smoke does seem to help a little bit though. Buffalo wings or anything spicy are good for loosening things up too.

Thanks for the advice. I originally tried the otc allergy pil but that didn't help. Went to the doc this week. She gave me Allegra-D and Nasonex. I have seen some improvement. Lets hope it continues. I feel like I'm wasting the last of the nice weather here in NY. Although I can't complain, my GF doesn't really care about me smoking the house.

A freind of mine with severe allergies swears by the saline rinse for your nose. You will feel like a new person once you clear that thing out a bit.

I am an admitted nasal-doucher... Seems to work pretty good.

I will say, the 1st time you do it is a very strange moment though.

I gotta agree with Stench. Can't bring myself to use one. I use claritin. You can by the store brands (walgreens, CRS, whatever) Pretty sheap and the bigger the bottle, the cheaper they are.

I also use Nasacort. That stuff kicks butt. It's prescription but it works. My insurance won't cover it, but my wife has asthma and it cover it for her but she only needs a half dose, so I get every other bottle and use half a dose.
