Beginner Suggestions?

I am new to the cigar world and I really enjoy it. Since I am new I figured that I would come to the experts about suggestions. I am really looking for an everyday cigar that is affordable yet still a quality smoke. I am into a more mild smoke but enjoy the spectrum at times. Thanks

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

My suggestion to you would be Flor De Oliva. Also check out 5 Vegas. They are everything you're looking for

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

Hi Rowland
Welcome, I'm new to the board but not cigars. As any forums go read everything and jump right on in. These guy's are kind here unlike some forums where being new is bad, here seems almost like everyone will help all they can.

1, Fill out your profile page and include the cigars you know you already like.

2. Don't piss off shuckins!

3. Include your address in your profile.

3. Join one of the newbie PIF's and trade a few cigars.

4. Buy small quantity like singles or fivers.

5. Check out these websites and maybe get signed up for a couple cigars of the month clubs, a great way to try new stuff cheaply.

Good Luck and have fun.

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

Here are the milds I like that are affordable

Cheaper but awesome
Oliva (just don't do V series yet)
Nub
Fuente 8-5-8
maduro fuente 8-5-8
romeo and juliet
macanudo

Special Occasion
Ashton

This is the list of cigars I started out with and really enjoyed, and still on occasion I enjoy them. Plus once you have been here long enough, you should do the newbie swap deal. You give a vet 5 cigars they want, and they will send you a sampler pack. I have heard good things about it (I haven't done it yet, but I am also not new to cigars, so no real need here).

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

RT,
Welcome to the group. Padron 2000, 3000, and Londres are mild to medium. The 3000 may be a little more toward medium but all are good starters and are reasonable.

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

CAO Gold is a great mild smoke and I have pulled fivers of of Cigar Bid for under 14 bucks. Rocky Patel Connecticut is another fine and relatively inexpensive mild smoke.

Also check the various sites before you buy. For whatever reason some site will have a particular cigar much cheaper than others. Finally, read these forums a lot. I have snagged some pretty good deasl on the advise of the BOTL's on here.

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

An inexpensive and mild smoke that was a go to for me was the Arturo Fuente Brevas Royale. You can get a whole cabinet of them for under $2.00 a piece. Also the Flor de Oliva is a great value for $$ at only $1.50 a piece. Try tons of stuff... half the fun is discovering what you like and what you don't!

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

One more newbe suggestion. Skip the 20 to 50 count humi's and go directly to a 200 to 300 count. The slope is very slippery!

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

+1 for Flor de Oliva

For a bit more try the Oliva connecticut reserve. I prefer the lonsdale size (6.5 X 44). Very mellow, very smooth and goes great with coffee.

Re: Beginner Suggestions?

For mild to med., try cigars with Connecticut or Cameroon wrappers.
Good Conns include Casa Torano, Perdomo Lot 23., and Oliva Conn. Reserve.
Some Cams: Oliva Serie G, and C.A.O. Cam.
