I'll re-check the seals today. I checked when I first got it, but with crazy Michigan weather, who knows...

Does this mean that even here in Winnipeg with the abysmal weather we have been having my humidor shouldn't have changed rH? It has dropped like 8% while the temp has changed about 3 degrees.

I use Madeline's jar humidity gel.

Dean, just make sure the jar is big enough to take care of the space inside the humidor and keep you humi pretty well stocked. It's easier to regulate humidity in a full humi than 1/2 or 1/4 full. Also, move your humidor to a warmer area of the house. Don't put it over a heat vent, but near one would work fine.

If the description of your problem is completely accurate, I had a similar problem. Chances are the cedar lining has dried out some and is making the seal a little less than stellar. If you want to see the humidity rise a little and fix the seal, simply take out all your cigars and wipe down the cedar lining with distilled water. Be sure to use a clean cloth and really wipe the lip well. This worked great for my humidor.

This looks like it was the issue. Thanks!

No problem, just happened to me last week! I accidentally left the lid up when I was hurrying to grab a cigar and run out for the evening. Once I wiped down the cedar with some distilled and put my cigars in, never had a problem since. Don't overdue it, damp rag, not sopping wet. You should notice the seal being a little tighter on closing and opening. Hope it does the trick.
