Re: torpedos

I really like torpedos, much easier to cut lol. There is some debate on whether the pointed end concentrates the flavors to your tongue. I've also heard that people prefer torpedos because they are harder to roll, so it was probably rolled by a skilled torcedor (roller), so it may have better construction/burn/draw etc. Again, I'm not sure if any of this is true :-).

Certain cigars may taste slightly different in different sizes. If you like your smokes to last a little longer, than a bigger size may be right for you, or if you need a quick smoke before heading out to work, than a petite corona is probably best. Really it all comes down to personal preference, and if your unsure, then try a couple different vitolas (sizes), and see what you like best. If your tight on money, just ask the community for their opinion on their favorite size.

I've only been smoking for a few years, and I still consider myself a n00b. I would have never thought the world of cigars was so deep and complex, but it's been an absolute pleasure to learn and experience different cigars and flavors.

Re: torpedos

A great thing for you to try might be a sampler pack of one type of cigar in different sizes. They usually have 4 different sizes (corona, robusto, torpedo, Churchill) with 2-4 of each size. The devil site has lots of these and I like them for the reasons Abed mentioned. Different situations require different size smokes. This will also give you a chance to try different shapes and sizes and see what you like. Good luck and remember, the fun is in the trying.
