Hey, question on storage

I do not yey have a coolidore, humidore or any other kind of 'dor yet. What I do have is a gallon freezer bag with 2 humidipacks. I picked up a cigar box at a B&M last night. My question.....is it ok to keep the cigars in the gallon bag with the humidipacks or is it better to put the stick and the packs in the cigar box and then put into the gallon bag??

Thanks In Advance

Re: Hey, question on storage

Either way is fine for now. Personally I would put them in the box if it is a natural box (without lacquer or paint that smells) and then place them in the bag. That way the cigars can be taking on some of the characteristics of the wood.

Just go to Wal-Mart or Target and pick up the Rubbermaid 2.5 gallon tupperware. They're around $10 and will hold plenty of cigars. They're in the Kitchen section.

I agree. I just bought another cooler yesterday at Wally World. Up here they are on for $25.00. You really can't beat the price.

Re: Hey, question on storage

While I was out of the country I was having cigars I found on good deals sent to my house in the states. My wife put them in a cooler with a distilled water soaked sponge at the bottom. The cigars went in to open ziplock bags so they wouldn't fall on to the sponge. They stayed humid for 2-3 months before I got home and got my humidor seasoned.

If your cigar box is cedar, you could put that in with the cigars. The wood will hold humidity to keep the RH from fluctuating so badly.
