For a humidor can you use water that has been filtered from a "PUR" water filter rather than using distilled water?

Re: Distilled Water...kind of
I would think your still going to have a lot of stuff left on the water you do not want. I would stick to distilled.

Re: Distilled Water...kind of
Distilled water is so cheap, I don't see why you would use anything else.. what is it, about $2 per gallon, if that?

If all you want to do is recharge beads, putting them in a ziplok along with a wet sponge or paper towel and letting them absorb the humiditiy as it evaporates will accomplish the same thing.

Re: Distilled Water...kind of
It really depends on what kind of media you are using and how you are "adding" the water to the humidification device.
I use regular tap water to refill my beads.. However, I allow the tap water to evaporate from a sponge to fill the beads - I don't pour the water onto them. Since distilled water is made by collecting "pure" water vapors, my method also is adding distilled water to the beads, and the impurities remain in the sponge. If your media requires immersion in water, or adding water to it in order to refill the media; you should ONLY use distilled water. If you can add the water via evaporation you don't even need to bother with the PUR filter. -Matt- |

Re: Distilled Water...kind of
I agree with everyone here. Go out and spend the dollar and change and get a gallon of distilled. It will last you a long time and you will not need to worry about it clogging up your humidification device.
