Re: Had my first "full" bodied cigar today. Whats the hype?

I define a cigar by body, strength, and flavor.

A full body cigar has rich heavy smoke, a real full body smoke almost sticks to your mouth.

A full flavor cigar has a strong impact on your taste buds. May be spice, woody, cedar, etc.

A full strength cigar has a lot of nicotine.

A cigar can have one, two, all or none of the above.

I would consider the Serie R you smoked to be full bodied but medium flavor and strength.

My son is a cigar smoker but when he first started out I gave him one of these and watched him turn green.

Man, that chisel knocked me to my knees then finished me off with a hard slap to the face! The only other time I felt that 'green' was when I took on the Cain but hadn't eaten. Now THAT was an experience! It's amazing how many shades of 'green' you can feel.

You want full-bodied? Skip lunch and smoke either an El Rico Habano or a JdN Antano in the afternoon.

No don't skip lunch or anything like that, or it really won't be a good experience. The point of a full body isn't to get sick, but to enjoy it in the hopes that you don't get sick... I suggested the La Flora Dominica Double Ligero because I really enjoy it as a full body cigar. It has a lot of flavor and it is full.

I don't mean "throw up" sick. Just enough to get a bit woozy. I like that feeling.

Re: Had my first "full" bodied cigar today. Whats the hype?

It appears all but one of us is again confusing body and strength. Body is not strength and strength is not body.

Body is a preception of thickness and heaviness of the smoke on the palate. Strength refers simply to the nicotine content and the accompanying tingly spice that goes with it. The LGC is indeed a full-bodied smoke, as your description clearly points out, but is of medium strength. While I personally find the best examples to be full-flavored, some do not.

Re: Had my first "full" bodied cigar today. Whats the hype?

I tried my first full-bodied smoke the other day and it knocked me out of my chair. Everyone continually showered the Oliva Serie V with praise, so I picked up a couple double robustos. I was blown away by the amount of peppery spice that came with this. Got light headed, mildly nauseous, but I pulled through. I'm saving the second one for a day when my palate matures.

Yes this is true and most of us know this but if you walk into most B&M or even look at online sites they use Full Body as meaning a strong (strength wise) cigar.

I enjoy a BBF when I need a head rush. Packs a punch, but more importantly has tons of great flavors to go with it.

Great minds think alike! You are right, if you get the right one the LGC R is one of the best, unfortunately they appear to be hard to find these days!

Re: Had my first "full" bodied cigar today. Whats the hype?

Im more concerned with the strength of the flavor then the amount of kick it has. I guess full "flavor" , strength and body dont all have to go hand in hand.
