Prior to Altadis, the Siglo name has been used before as a type or line of cigars under different brand names made by other cigar companies (most notably the Cuban Cohiba). The new Siglo Limited Reserve by Altadis is made in Nicaragua with an Ecuadorian Cubano wrapper, a broadleaf Nicaraguan binder, and a blend of filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.The new Siglo cigars are available in several sizes, but I sampled the Siglo IV, which is a Robusto size cigar measuring 5 inches long with a ring gauge of 54. In a 5-pack, the price is about $6 per stick, but a box of 25 should cost about $135. These are full-bodied cigars and are well made. They have a deep rich tobacco flavor and a nice easy draw. |
