Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
I'm a punch on most, guillotine on the torps. Just keep the punch on the keychain.

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
I like to switch it up depending on what I am smoking, I use a V-Cut the most, but on a medium gauge with a nice solid end a punch can be good. Anyone have an Altaldis Table Top?, I think I gotta have one! I'm waiting on a back-ordered Palio right now for my new guillotine, I've had good luck with the RP Stainless 3 punch and the Wolf $6 V-Cut works great.

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
I'm usually a guillotine guy, until recently anyway. Somebody lost my cheapo guillotine, so it's been punch exclusively for a while.
I'm looking at picking up some cigar scissors, though. Does anyone use them? |

Vee cut for parejos. Guillotine for torpedos.
The vee allows the tip to flatten when chomping all afternoon but still open back up for a relight. |

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
here's a question i've had for a while. what's the big deal with xikar cutters? I feel like a regular 3 dollar guillotine cutter can get the job done. but then again i've never used a xikar cutter before, so can't really tell.

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
i asked the same question one time and someone told me palio and xikar have blades that will not dull as fast and will last a really long time compared to the $3 blade, but so far I have been using the $3 blade since I got into smoking cigars and so far it has worked with no problems and I must have smoked at least 60 cigars by now I think, but it has only been 2 months, maybe by 6 months it will be dull and will need another one, but i am guessing the xikar will still be good, i heard the palio has a lifetime warranty

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
I have been using a punch from day one and on cigars I smoke on the reg, I switch between a guillotine and a punch. What is the benefit to a V-cut?

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
I became partial to the punch since I have one on my key chain I use when not at home and my home lighter has a pungh built in. But I realize that lack of a good guillotine is a problem with the torpedo

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
Have tried every cut out there and my favorite is the V Cut because it allows the smoke to make a direct path into your mouth and it helps to keep any residual tar buildup from entering your mouth as well. A Cats Eye Cut is like a V Cut only it is deeper in the middle. Some will tell you that a V Cut is not very good when it comes to torpedos or bellicoso and that is not true at all. I make a V Cut on just about any side or shape cigar except for the large RG cigar,,,only because the head is just too big to get it into my cutter.

Re: How do you prefer to cut your cigar
Last cigar I smoked was a torpedo, used my v-cut without any problems. Anyone saying a torpedo and v-cut don't mix is mistaken.
